Do you worry for the newer gamers?
The ones who only know call of duty and not DOOM, the ones who tell their friends that the Nintendo 64 was the first game system ever, the ones who call sidescrolling platformers stupid and have never seen an arcade, let alone a Beat-Em-Up? I think every non-3D system is going to be forgotten by all the snot nosed 10 year olds of today. And it worries me. Sure, there's a virtual console. But can't you hear your neighbor kid saying "These look like crap" Just because you can see the polygons? What can we do?
Sega Genesis (Model 2), Sega CD, Sega 32X, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Game Boy Family, Phillips CD-i Model 910, NES, Atari 5200, Virtual Boy, Atari Jaguar, Playstations 3-4

Cheif, Ive been asked what an Atari is and why I didnt have a Xbox 360 in the Momocon Retro Gaming room, you know for Halo 3.
Re: Do you worry for the newer gamers?
Yeah, there's not much can be done about the newest generation. Perhaps this section of history's past and culture are on their way out in the next 20-30 years or so.
Wow, this is kinda sad to think about.

I think it'll mostly be forgotten, but there will always be more like us (the cool kids that is
). Twenty years from now those snot nosed brats will be crying out about the merits of the first Halo game when all the new snot nosed 10 year olds playing Halo 8 won't even touch it because of how old, ugly, and outdated it is. The more things change, the more things stay the same
.

I don't care what the little kids think.
Oh. I think I might have just officially become a grumpy old man.

No. The internet and emulation pretty much guarantees that old-school and retro games will be remembered and even remain playable for as long as there is a technologically advanced human civilization.
And it's not like gaming history starts at Mario and DOOM, so I'm sure there's someone out there who had an Odyssey or an Amiga II who thinks the exact same thing when they see posts like yours.
My point is, chill out.

They're just growing up with their own versions of Contra etc.
Either way, the less interested they are in retro gaming, the higher the supply of old gear.

Yeah, but that's probably what's going to happen.
