Fried gamecube

Post by Hatta »

I was playing Eternal Darkness just now, and my power flickered. When it came back, the Gamecube didn't. I read that a blown fuse will still run the fans, my cube is completely unresponsive. Think it might have just damaged the power adaptor, or is the cube toast? Should I head down to GameStop for another? And maybe a surge protector too?

Funny thing is, my PC didn't even shut off, it was that quick.

Unplug your power adaptor from both the cube and wall then let it sit for a good while (20mins.-an hour) and the internal circuit breaker should reset and be as good as new.

I knew Eternal Darkness had some crazy effects to throw a player through a loop but this? wow!
The web's first video game public library! http://videogameexperiment.com rents all games for free and sells them for less than Ebay and Amazon! Plus we take anything in on trade-in.

You've gotta love when it pretends to reset your Cube, or screws up the image by making it fuzzy etc...

It might be Eternal Darkness' greatest mind game yet. God help us if they make a sequel.

AFAIK the power supply has it's own built in safety measures to stop surges from damaging internal components. However, it could just be a blown fuse in the plug. If you know anybody else with a GC, try their power supply with the GC and see if it works. If you don't know anybody else with a GC take it into your local game store (one that sells pre-owned GC of course) and ask them if they sell GC power supplies, they might have spares and if so, ask to see if it works with your GC, if it does, just buy it. Hopefully they should be co-operative.

Hell, I KNEW that it would pretend to reset the Cube and I still fell for it.

Well what do you know, it worked! Man that's a relief. My GF gave me that cube, so we're both happy to have it back. Thanks.

Yeah it happened to mine a few years back and after a quick call to Nintendo they told me to do just that and it worked as well.
