Trying to use an XMD-1

Post by Marspants »

So I got one of these and really I have no idea what to do now lol. I'm assuming the point is to get another cable out of it but I'm lost as to what cables use these two outputs. It's for the Genesis and it hooks in my model one. Anyway, any help would be great.

I've got one of those except it's the XMD-3 model. I realize yours is for the genny model 1 but I included some pictures in case they might be of some assistance.
On my setup it's connected via the AV output of my 32x.
On the XMD unit itself I have it connected via s-video and stereo output to the TV.

The problem is that yours is understandable S-video, I have some strange connections I've never used or seen around here. I thought maybe there would be a scart cable that would connect to them but I don't know all that much about it.

You need a Japanese RGB cable to use it with either a Japanese RGB compatible TV, or a Japanese X-RGB upconverter.

European SCART cables will not work with it because they're wired differently that their Japanese counterparts.

Ahaha thanks! I'm getting an XRGB-3 soon so maybe I can get it hooked up to that. Thanks!

Yup, it'll work perfect with an XRGB-3 when you get it.

(Although I personally prefer the XRGB-2)
