Actually, they are on the rise again. Steam and Direct2Drive recently reported big jumps in sales this year. Steam is up a whopping 94% over the last year and D2D is up 57%.

With digital distribution becoming a better service for less money, it's becoming cool to be a PC gamer again. I'm in it head strong as of this year, but I hadn't been into PCs since the days of Doom. I can't be the only one.
