X-files games.
Has anyone played the X-Files games on ps1 and or ps2? I'm asking because I'm a huge X-files fan and I was wondering if these games are worth picking up or not? I want to believe....that these games are good........is the truth out there???
Re: X-files games.
I doubt it.
I actually have the ps2 game, but haven't actually played it yet only because i'm sure it is going to be really bad.
you can find the games hella cheap though. If you are a fan, you'll probably get a couple bucks worth or entertainment out of em.

I own both, beaten the PS1 game, played a little and watched my girlfriend beat the PS2 game. The PS2 game(X-Files: Resist or Serve) is a poorly designed survival horror with some horrendous problems and cheap fights. The graphics are relatively poor for the time, and the controls are a bit awkward. In short...no, not really worth playing. But if you're really into the series, it does serve as three "extra" episodes for the 7th season.
Then there's the PS1 game(The X-Files Game), which actually isn't that bad if you're willing to accept a few things. First, it's a poor port of the PC game. Second, it's not all that interactive. It's an adventure game, where you must go around static environments to collect evidence by doing various things such as looking at specific points on the screen or using X object with Y object at Z location. And you don't play as any main character, just a new FBI agent in the Bureau's Seattle office. On the upside it plays like a missing episode of the X-Files, which is pretty cool. However it's not advisable to play it via the PS2, as its one of the games that doesn't make the jump very well. There are some graphical glitches with your pointer and inventory that get really annoying. Between the two, I'd say this one was better. And if you do look up the PC version, it's 7 CDs long, so don't be surprised. It's based at some point in the 3rd season, between episodes "Avatar" and "Wetwired."
There's also another "game," The X-Files: Unrestricted Access, for PC. It's basically a database for material related to the show that was relevant at the time of release(1997). There's not really much too it, and while it did update, it didn't do it very often, so there's little reason to look it up. But it's there if you want it.

Re: X-files games.
Yeah, I did my research and that's pretty much everything that I gathered. From what I hear they're both pretty bad but so cheap so I'll probably just pick up the ps1 version and give it a try. Thanks again.Ack wrote:I own both, beaten the PS1 game, played a little and watched my girlfriend beat the PS2 game. Re: X-files games.
The PS2 game I liked- it was a horribly designed survival horror, but it did have some moments. It's also full of references to other episodes, like some street names are actually the names of certain episodes and of course, a reference to Mulder's porn (which is actually a reference to Duchovny's porn days, heh). Hearing their voices and communicating just like they would in an episode is fun, too. I like to think the first half is the good part of the game and the rest is just fubar due to story and "challenge," and I don't want to say more to give anything away. Play it for the story, for being an X-Files fan, for having a thing for Agent Scully or Mulder, but don't expect much.
You can play as either agent and get two full storylines, and as Agent Scully you can do autopsies which I had first believed to be awesome...
It was at least trying to be different, which I liked... except the part where you're performing a procedure while hordes of zombies are trying to eat Molder in the room with you.
<I was introduced to a surgeon's game on the PC a loooooong time ago so it was nostalgia for me. I wonder if I could find it... ?>
