Famicom artwork

Post by KillerHERTZ »

Hi there,

This is my very 1st post, a couple of weeks ago I saw an old thread on here where someone was selling re-prints of orignal Famicom Japanese adverts, eg Zelda and Metroid.

Ive tried searching and it comes up with a forum code error.

Anyone help please?

Thanks
Khz

Instead of buying reprints, why not buy some originals? They are commonly called Famicom "handbills", and were distributed to promote a variety of games in Japan. They look wicked framed.

That is a link to a thread on Famicom World's forums. The poster is selling original Famicom handbills. I have personally purchased several from him in the past - great seller. He still has Zelda and Metroid handbills for sale - which are pretty rockin'.

cool thanks for the link. I can definately see the appeal to reprints though, some of those are hella expensive.

Yeah, certain ones are crazy. Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, and Mega Man all typically go for over $100. From what I understand, that Mario USA handbill is pretty rare.

Handbills from some of the first party Nintendo titles go for a reasonable amount, for example Zelda 1, Metroid, Mario 2 J (Lost Levels). I have those three, and individually they cost between $30 - $40. The handbills that this guy is selling are great because they have not been folded - I've seen plenty of folded handbills for sale on the internet.

By far my favourite handbill is for the original Mother. Check it out if you can find it. Unfortunately, it routinely sells for over $200 on Yahoo Auctions Japan.
