Other than Sony marketing hype, that is.
The only game so far that looks that good is Resistance: Fall of Man, but Gears of War or the 360 is much better from the sounds of it.
Virtua Fighter 5 will be good, for sure, but I haven't heard anything about that coming out anytime real soon.
So is all this excitement about the PS3 really just a case of getting to say you have one?
What's The Real Appeal of the PS3 At This Point?
Owning the newest playstation at any given time, makes you a cool person in the eyes of your idiot friends instantly. They bought the system, and they'll probably buy a sports game for it or the next GTA, and then never use it. But they'll make damned sure that it's always hooked up, and in plain sight in their living rooms, so that all their friends can see how cool they are.
I'm serious. No one bought the thing for the games. No one bought the thing for blu-ray.

They haven't had many commercials, but just the word-of-mouth.
Everybody has heard about the PS3 -- even the middle-aged women at work were talking about it.

Lmao. That thing has to be the worst launch game in history. That thing didn't even look like it was a PS2 game. The xplay review was hilarious!Mozgus wrote:Cerulean wrote:Indy_aka_Rex wrote:I want mine for:

I don't own one PlayStation 3 game for my PlayStation 3. I picked up a copy of Metal Gear Solid 3 Sustanance and Shadows of the Collosus. I think the real appeal is a cheap bluray player (yes 500-600 dollars is cheap for a blue ray player) being able to out put my old ps1 and ps2 games, and be able to play any new gems that come out for it at some point. If I had a working PS2, I probbaly would not have bought a PS3.
P.S.
Playing Gears of War right now. It blends the tatics, cinimatic feel and stealth of Metal Gear Solid with the rawl action of a full blown FPS. This is the proverbial "400 dollar game" for the 360.
