Are there any Ann Arbor retro game stores?
I'll be there for a week or so later this month, and I was wondering if there was any place I could spend my cash on sweet games.
Sega Genesis (Model 2), Sega CD, Sega 32X, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Game Boy Family, Phillips CD-i Model 910, NES, Atari 5200, Virtual Boy, Atari Jaguar, Playstations 3-4

I'm not aware of any, but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.

Ever go to Titan Games in battle creek? They have rather expensive systems (except for Sega CD) but cheap games.racketboy wrote:I'm not aware of any, but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.

Hmm... I don't go out that way often, but maybe I'll have to make a trip out there sometime.

And should you ever come to traverse city, Hocus Pocus is FANTASTIC. Somewhere in the Keewanaw Peninsula, there's a place called the yard sale that takes up three buildings, but only one has games. Take a trip up, it's pretty cool.racketboy wrote:Hmm... I don't go out that way often, but maybe I'll have to make a trip out there sometime.

Traverse is a cool place -- haven't been in forever (long drive)Gooseberrysoda wrote:And should you ever come to traverse city, Hocus Pocus is FANTASTIC. I'll keep it in mind though! I'm hoping to document all the indie retro game stores around the country (or at least places I travel to)

Re: Are there any Ann Arbor retro game stores?
There's a shop called "Get Your Game On". It's a comic book/retro video game store. I go there whenever I make a trip up to Ann Arbor. It's in the university district, at the top of a hill, and to the right, I believe. You can look up the exact location, but it's a pretty cool shop.
If you ever go to Kalamazoo, I recommend checking out a little shop called Gameplaze. I love going there. It's a bit pricey, but they have a ton of stuff. There's another location of the shop further out near Oshtemo, which is even closer for me, but I prefer the other location.

I went there a couple times. That's where I got my Dreamcast Fishing Controller and a few Master System games. It's not too bad. The benefit of buying games from comic book shops is that there's a higher chance of them selling something really valuable or good for a lot less than it's worth. [i.e I got a sealed copy of Fantasy Zone for $10Gooseberrysoda wrote:Ever go to Titan Games in battle creek? If you make it to Grand Rapids, there's a nice little place called Vidiot's.
The guy there always has good prices.

Where at in Kalamazoo? I spent the best 6 years of my life there(WMU) and still make it out there quite a bit. I remember going to a comic book store on Westnedge & Kilgore that usually had some good gaming stuff.

It's on Westnege, in Liberty Plaza [in the small stretch of road between the Stir Max restaurant and Kalamazoo Christian Middle School. In fact, if the comic book shop you're talking about is Fanfare comics, it's only about 1/10th of a mile back.
