I'm going to consider buying a Gamecube SD Gecko so I can run GC homebrew and the backup launcher. However, I was wondering some things about the backup launcher. Can you play NTSC-J backups on an NTSC-U system? Also, I probably should have asked this first, but is the backup launcher compatible with the SD Gecko?
EDIT: Also, will a Wii USB Gecko work on a Gamecube?

Re: Gamecube Backup Loading Questions
Personally, I use Action Replay, Wiikey SD adapter ($3.90 at DealExtreme), sdload to run files (homebrew, snes & nes emulators) off the SD card.
sdload tutorial can be found here: http://www.gc-linux.org/wiki/SDload
Here's the link for Wiikey SD adapter: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3993
If you don't have the version of Action Replay that allows code entry, you should instead go for the SD Media Launcher which is $20.

Re: Gamecube Backup Loading Questions
You mean off the SD card? There are some games that can be played that way but the compatibility is very poor if I recall correctly. Personally I only used it for some emulators and some GC homebrew programs.
Here's the compatibility list:
http://wiki.scorpei.com/index.php/SD-Bo ... ility_list
I see a bunch of entries are "green" but they do have video slowdown. To me, that's not good enough.

Re: Gamecube Backup Loading Questions
You can only load backups off the SD Card, not the disk drive?

Disk drive? You mean dvd drive?
Yes, you can but I personally haven't done this. There are some tutorials that can help you over at thepurplecube.org.
[GC] SD Media Launcher Guide
Boot Gamecube Backups With Action Replay
There are more different tutorials here
Keep in mind that you will need to tweak the potentiometer (variable resistor a.k.a POT) on the GC Laser for it to read mini-DVD-Rs. All of all the consoles I've modded, it's the pickiest for media.

Re: Gamecube Backup Loading Questions
One more question. I'm new to using SD Gecko, so how do I start the homebrew loader? Do I use a special disk? Does it start automatically?
