gamecube ISO burning problem 2

Post by RCBH928 »

I posted earlier how I did a download of the game Spartan Total Warrior for the gamecube and how it didn't work and several of you gave different solutions.

Well here what happened.
I got a different brand(I used imation, now Sony) , and burned the ISO on imgburn on speed 1x(slower better right?)

I put it in my Softmii wii and many of you said I have to get a gamecube game launcher so I did.
I put in the game and tried the gamecube launcher and it started and then two green lines show on the side and the wii freezes basically.

amazingly, the Wii recognize it in the CD channel as a gamecube game, so I launch it. I get wierd green colored boxes like a half downloaded movie off the net. Then the game starts. It says licensed by Nintendo. The name of the develoepers etc. I go to the menu. I press start on my gamecube controller it works. Then I get a message saying that some kind of an error occurred please read gamecube manual.

Any idea what is going on?

Here's a few things to consider:

Bad rip - Try and download a different version

Bad software - The GC loader on the Wii could have compatibility issues with the game. You might have an out of date Cios, check waninkoko's blog for more information.

Bad burn - Try burning it again with different software. I find gburner is more compatible with my GC/Wii games.

At this site, one user was able to use version 0.2 of the launcher to run the game.

http://thepurplecube.org/forums/index.p ... 826.0.html

You may want to post in the help section at the site as there are a number of experienced wii/gc folks there.

Personally, I use ImgBurn which is free.

gburner is practically free, it just nags you when you don't put a serial in. The software works fine in 'trial' mode.

I know this doesn't help at all, but I"m just genuinely curious. Why go through all the trouble of burning Gamecube ISO's when you could just as easily buy the actual game? I mean it's $12 at Gamestop. Probably cheaper elsewhere. Again, I'm seriously not trying to be a jerk or anything. I'm just wondering. I mean, I can see the purpose of emulating older consoles that are hard to find, or expensive. But the Wii (unmodded) plays Gamecube games that are pretty easily available and affordable still?

Is there anything wrong with trying something before buying it? What if he wants to protect his original by using a backup?

well I assumed he wasn't backing up his original since he said he downloaded it... anyway, like I said, I was just curious "why?" I wasn't looking for a debate or anything (and the question about "is there anything wrong..." is really a debate regarding personal morals, that I'm not interested in.) I was just kind of saying that if it were ME, and I wanted to play Spartan for Gamecube, and I owned a Wii, I would probably just go buy a used copy instead of burning a bunch of discs and trying to figure out why it didn't just work. (as a disclaimer, I'm going to reitertate once more, I'm wasn't/am not trying to be a jerk here, just curious.

To me, Spartan Total Warrior is one of those titles that I wouldn't buy without having tried it.

Personally, I bought Mario Party 7 & Paper Mario TTYD after having tried them as backups. I also bought MP 1,2,3,4,5,6 unseen based on my experience with 7. The same goes for PM 64.

I bought Zoo Cube and some other shlock unseen. I regret those purchases. Super Smash Bros Melee was one that I bought on "reputation" and is a title that I don't care for.

I would like to point out that the original poster is from Bahrain I believe. I don't think he has a local gamestop.

The part about being from another country makes a lot of sense.

And in yr case, the trying it first thing seems to make sense. I've actually never done that myself, so that's why I was curious. Thanks!
