Buying a used Gamecube just for the controller

Post by skere26 »

Does this make sense to anyone? A controller costs $20, I figure why not spend the extra $10 and have a spare cube sitting around...

Definitely. Keep in mind that you can get a used controller from gamestop for $14 and if you're lucky, a wavebird for $18.

I recently bought another gamecube (I have 7) for $25 for the nintendo carry case, platinum wavebird, and orange controller at a garage sale.

Most of them were for wavebird controllers where they would sell a system plus 2-3 controllers (at least 1 wavebird) plus a game or two for a cheap price. In all of my deals, the GC was essentially free, a throwin. I have 10 wavebird controllers....the best GC controller ever.

I plan to mod some of the cubes and then sell them one day.

Since we're talking about modded gamecubes, what media do you use? I don't want to get the ritek shit that goes bad in a year, so what's the second most compatible?

I haven't had any issues with Ritek G04 media personally. I also use Philips (CMC Mag AF1).

This is exactly the thing that I would do.

Once I was given a Game Gear and I was looking into buying an AC adapter for it. They were selling for about £10 at the time so I started to think that I could get a Mega Drive with an AC and a few games for £20 so I started looking at those. After a while I started thinking that I would love a MegaCD, and as they are rarely for sale by themselves I figured I would get one of them as well. Suddenly I'm looking at spending £60 when all I really want is a sega ac adopter.
