Japanese pc games on american windows?

Post by toredauei »

Ive lately had the urge to buy and play some perfect cherry blossom beyond the downloadable demo but I really dont want to buy the game and later find out that I cant play it because my os is not japanese. Can anyone shed some light? maby there is some sort of program I would need to download or maby there is no problem at all? Im currently running vista if anyone needs to know.

I've never heard of a japanese game not running on another language of windows, provided you install japanese language support, which really is just helping to avoid file path issues and such.

I can even run most Touhou games on Wine. Localization isn't much of a problem.

I played RozenKruezStilette just fine, so my guess is yes. The only difficulty is setting it up, you just have to guess which buttons are the "yes" or "install" buttons.

The only difference between Japanese Windows and American Windows are the language packs. Assuming your game can work in Vista, you should be fine.

You may also need to download Microsoft's AppLocale package and set the application language to make sure the OS runs it with the correct locality support. I don't remember where to get this but it worked on my laptop fine. Google is your friend.

Its not hard to get it up and running, if you have trouble call me. Ive got one computer with nothing but doujin games on it right now - about 50. If installing the language pack doesnt work, which you dont even have to do that for PCB, activate the language bar and set your language to Japanese. Thatll fix it. It is the only way to make Typing of the Dead 2 work.
