Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

"Gaming With the Mrs."-Politico review is up

Post by Harvey »

Hey everyone. I've started a blog called "Gaming With the Mrs." Predictably, it's all about gaming with my wife. I'll be talking about what video games, card games, and board games we play, as well as reviewing how the games went over for us. Please check it out. http://gamingwiththemrs.blogspot.com/

My latest post is a review on Trauma Center: New Blood for the Wii.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Needs some cosmetic work, but it's not bad for a start.

I like your style. Gaming with the significant other is a big deal on BGG and I never understood why it didnt catch on in gaming as much.

Yeah I feel ya. I've done quite a few online searches for finding games for us to play. I hope my blog will become a good resource for those looking for games that are good for couples.

To give you the advice I give everyone converting their wives/girlfriends:
Bubble Bobble, Tetris, and any interactive movie styled game - mostly Point and Click Adventures.

As for boardgames, I am more of a grognard than eurogamer but Settlers and Pitchcar have never failed me.

Wii games aside, the best "couples" game that I have played with my wife has to be Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. I think of that as a pretty hardcore game, but my wife enjoyed ittremendously. (We are currently playing through the sequel, but it is taking us longer because the sequel is not as good/addictive as the original.)

Other good "hardcore" games that appealed to my wife are Ico and Rez. We passed the controller back and forth to get through those games, and we both had a great time.

Just like a woman to like expensive and hard to find items like Ico and Rez. I've never really thought about playing an RPG with my wife...I may try out Marvel: Ultimate Alliance or Baldur's Gate with her.

My recommendations for games that the wife would like are: Mario Kart and Sequence (board game).

Gotta totally agree with your first choice of games. Trauma Center: NB was a great game to play with my soon to be wife. We tore through that game and had a blast. We actually ranked 9th on the leaderboard on one of the bonus missions.
