Who is your favorite shmup boss?

I'm interested to see who everyone's favorite shmup boss is with a screen shot of it preferably incase we dont know who it is . Mine is by far the cat spider boss from guwange. If you dont know who im talking about then do yourself a favor and GO PLAY THE FUCKING GAME!


second place would probably go to the giant throbing dick boss from gynoug/wings of wor on genesis (just for the wtf factor)

Nanostray's (DS) final boss. That, and the level based gameplay before it was real nice.

Damn, when I read the tread title the first thing I thought of was the cat/spider. That whole stage of the game is just sublime to play through, a shooter done right.

Next choice would be Kamui level 4. That game as a whole does a good job making the boss fights non-stop. It's not just about dodging, but you constantly need to change your attack, the pace reminds me of a fighting game.

This is the stage one mid-boss in Spriggan for the PC-Engine Super CD-ROM2. I like this one so well because I remember seeing a picture of it in EGM when I was little. That has always stuck with me until a few months ago when I bought a Turbo CD and this import. I had no idea that that boss was in this game! The feelings of nostalgia were intense!!

The Tyrannosaurus Rex in Mushihimesama is cool, especially when you blast away its facial skin. Kinda gives me the creeps.

Probably for nostalgic reasons, but I'd say the brain boss in level one from Life Force/Salamander.



Following that, I guess any of the crazy bosses from Ai Cho Aniki or any Parodius game.

Ever play Salamander 2? That brain boss get owned hard by a big ass space snake. It's kind of gross, actually.

man I really need a pc engine, there is so much that Im missing out on! ai cho aniki looks weird as hell (a very good thing) Also Hashiriya1, I cant remember there being t-rex in mushihimesama, maby you were talking about futari? I wouldnt know ive never had the pleasure of playing it.

Yeah, it's Futari, I never really add the 'futari' part since it's so common here.
