I saw a PS3 today

Post by racketboy »

I saw a PS3 in my local Best Buy.
They had NBA Live 07 or something like that on it.
I was totally unimpressed.

From what I saw it didn't seem much better than the XB360.

They had GUN/Tony Hawks American Wasteland/NBA 2k6/Amped 3/Need for Speed: Most Wanted or something like that on it.

I came across an interesting comparison between Ridge Racer 6 (360) and Ridge Racer 7 (PS3).

Not really a fair comparison though considering the timeframe difference.
Also, I'm guessing the developers spent more time on the ps3 version considering the hype.

Its kindof like comparing the Saturn version of RE to the newest version on the PSX(is it dual shock, or directors cut?). They were made at different time frames so you will get a better game most likely in the revision!

As to a comparison between the 360 and the PS3, to a developer, they seem to be the same and kindof balance each other out. I believe on of the dudes from silicon knights said the 360 had more memory while the PS3 has a bit more processing power, so one doesn't necesarrily beat the other, they are quite comparable. Thats really how it seems graphics wise to me as well. I really don't see too much of a difference between the web videos of PS3 and 360. Granted I haven't seen all of them, but I'm most likely right. And one may think that the PS3 is better because of it can output to 1080p, but the 360 is definately capable of it if the PS3 could, considering it has twice the video ram. From what I know, to output 1080p instead of 1080i means you just need more of a video buffer. Maybe I'm wrong about it, but it is definately possible me thinks :)

360 - Consumer priced PC

Wii - Beefy game cube

PS3 - Cell processor............wasn't IBM saying that Cell processor tech still broken?

I'm not a fan of the current console wars. to me, this is my opinion

PS3: Too expensive. Graphics are almost Identical to Xbox 360. Cell Processor? Sounds like some sort of fancy talk to make it seem better than 360. Honestly though, I haven't seen anything that uses it(that is apparent) because everything looks similar to xbox 360, nice shiny graphics....literaly
Xbox 360: I have one. I have to say, the graphics haven't evolved much from xbox, except they are shiny, bumped, and everything is reflective, also, what's up with the lighting? It's like everything glows. It's basically a PC, thats affordable enough. I use this to play newer games, because Desktops are too expensive for what they are.
Wii: Quite interested. Affordable, and nice selection of games (virtual console) Innovative to an extent. I'd rather use my classic controller for most games, though there are a few where the nunchukus controller would be great.
