TG16 help
I know a few threads are on here about what game to own and yada yada yada. But this is more of a general question. I traded in alot of stuff tonight towards a TG16 bundle. 7 games, console, controler, arcade stick, and the multitap. Well after testing it out...it didnt want to really work...im assuming. The picture comes in a bit fuzzy, now I know its old, but if you wiggle the rc it trys to clear up *still fuzzy but easy to see to play* I talked to the guys and they said they would open it up, clean it, and see if the jack needed to be resoldered. Is this common? Is there anything I can do to try to fix it to avoid having someone pop it open?
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.
Re: TG16 help
before you open it up, do you have another rf adapter laying around (NES maybe) that you could try?

Re: TG16 help
Tried that, actually...the one they gave me was a brand new one, sense the original had just given out. Its in the jack itself. What I did was bend the prongs around it to make it snug, helped out ALOT. But I think the picture could be more clear. The shop said they would do the job for free sense I got the entire bulk from them, I just would prefer to try something else before they pop it open.
Any other ideas?

Re: TG16 help
sounds to me like the jack needs to be resoldered then..

Re: TG16 help
it can do composite video but you have to get a turbo booster to plug in the expansion port. or hack it and add rca jacks.

Oh, thanks for the info.
What does a Turbo Booster do anyway?

Re: TG16 help
turbobooster was an addon that added stereo sound and composite vid. pretty lame that NEC charged extra for something like that. there was also an addon called turbobooster plus that added backup ram so you could save your games in addition to the av outputs. the turbobooster plus is much more rare and usually sells for 50 bucks give or take on ebay.

Thanks, I've been wanting to get into TG16 stuff lately, but have been confused as to what all the weird little add-ons it had were and do.

Re: TG16 help
I would recommend getting a pc engine instead of a tg16. much bigger game selection. many times the japanese version of a game is cheaper than the US version(one example where the opposite is true would be splatterhouse, the jp version is usually more expensive. I'm guessing one reason is because it is uncensored while the US version is heavily censored.)
unfortunately you can't play US hucards on a pc engine without modding it. cd games are region free though. pretty much every game except RPGs you can get by without knowing any japanese.
if you are into shmups pc engine is your dream come true. there are several versions of the pc engine, i would recommend at least getting a core grafx because it has composite hookups unlike the original pc engine which only had RF and required an AV addon like the turbo. (geez that sounded like a sales pitch
