new wii game from high voltage the makers of the conduit. For some reason the conduit never quite appealed to me. On paper it seems like i would love the game, but the more i saw it in motion the less excited I got. Something about the look of all the characters just seemed pretty bland to me.
This game however, looks right up my ally. The grinder has 4 player online co-op. This is a feature that is old news for xbox players, but is a pretty big deal for a wii game. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of it. I'm sure that any pitfalls and quirks of the conduit will be ironed out for the grinder too. It'll support wii motion plus and wii speak which is pretty exciting. Whenever nintendo issues a peripheral, I'm always kinda worried that it'll get used for only a couple games. It is good to see third party companies supporting good hardware.
So it looks like i'll pick up the conduit after all. I know it is a little cliche, but I thought that perhaps there wasn't really a huge interest in making more "hardcore" games for the wii. It seems like when companies do they make one or two and that is pretty much it. It looks like high voltage is just making the games that they would want to play on the wii and banking on the fact that there are probably other people who also want to play those games. The grinder will probably still come out even if the conduit does well or not, but it seems like they are a good company to support. They got my money/vote.
My wii sadly collects a lot of dust. Hopefully in the next couple years i'll be blowing some of that dust off.
The Grinder
Re: The Grinder
There sure are quite a few motion plus games piling up - Grand Slam Tennis, Virtua Tennis, Tiger Woods, Wii Sports Resort, Red Steel 2, the wii Zelda, NMH2 (possibly) and I'm sure I;ve heard of more. Mine should get here Friday (Yay).
The wii release schedule is def looking much more positive lately, I think we are finally getting a good selection of core games

High Voltage Software is really helping Nintendo third-party software. I'm gonna have to check this out and Conduit as well...

That game looks awesome. IGN had an article about it a week ago. There were some sample tracks from the soundtrack and it sounds really good. The game is giving me this From Dusk til Dawn vibe that is making me excited. Looks really cool, but makes me want somebody to make a L4D mod of Assault on Precinct 13 or some other John Carpenter movie(Vampires would be amazing... imagine having james woods doing the dialogue.)
