Saturn component mod?

Post by BigTinz »

I'm thinking about getting back into the saturn. Rather than try to get a scart cable and a scart to component...is there a way to get component out from a Sega Saturn. If it makes a difference, it would be a white JP Saturn.

Once again, there is no native component output from a Sega Saturn. A few minutes searching (google, the forums) would have yielded this same answer.

its not really going to look much better over s-video due to the resolution of the graphics, sure you might get better colors, but I achieve that with my composite by setting my TV to high color/dynamic mode which looks perfectly fine to me on both s-vid and composite, no real difference if you kick the sharpness way up. Either way 3D will look like ass on anything older than a Dreamcast no matter what you play it on. I understand you wanting to get the best quality but your only getting an interlaced signal anyway.

Wow you should just not reply when it comes to anything about video. Please, please don't listen to this guy. He plays his GC on his parent's hi-def TV, stretched out, over composite cables, and thinks it looks awesome.

It's not just better colors that are achieved with s-video, although that is certainly a huge benefit, it is color separation. Over s-video the color of each pixel onscreen will not bleed into the surrounding pixels as much, thus giving the image a much sharper, more vibrant feel. And, 3D does not necessarily look "like ass" on anything older than a Dreamcast, there are many games in the era of the Saturn/N64/Playstation that had great looking 3D graphics. Of course a Saturn is going to look awful on a hi-def TV through composite though! Only an interlaced signal? That is what older systems output! I'm glad your Saturn died, to be honest.

You sir are a dumbass.

First off I payed for that TV with my own money.

Second I never said it looked very good I said I was just happy that it renders past the average overscan point so my games would be full fucking screen.

Third, I know thats what old consoles use and you can eliminate much of color bleed with a TV that has good sharpness adjustment.

Fourth... if you take enjoyment over somebodys game console dying and thats your idea of enjoyment you have serious problems.

I'm simply stating that there is no real good reason for using component or SCART on a Saturn or Dreamcast or pretty much anything that doesnt provide progressive scan unless you get seriously pissed off when you use the TV's own sharpness setting.

Also, I bought a new CRTHD for 100 bucks off craigslist so I'm not using that LCD anymore. And even when we moved I used a small CRT

Have a nice fucking day.

LOL! You are hilarious AND ignorant. If you really can't see the difference between composite and component then you need make serious use of one of these.

I already am having a nice day, thank you. I just picked up 6 sealed NES games at a garage sale for 5 bucks apiece! I suppose you could even say that it is a nice fucking day :D

First off I am a little near sighted, big deal. Second, I'm not completely anal about things like this. Third, yes I am ignorant about some things (honestly less ignorant but more just extremely opinionated), but I have tried component vs composite on many systems with a variety of games including:

PS3
PS2
Xbox
Gamecube
Xbox 360
Wii

Yes you can see a difference, all I'm stating is that it is my opinion that it isn't worth it. People may have a different view from you, big deal, we're only human. Damn man you need to get above a 2nd grade reading level.

Again all I'm saying just so it gets through that thick skull of yours. It's my opinion that using component on anything that doesnt at least offer progressive scan is not really worth it.

Even as much as I like this forum over the others the sad part is their is still thickheaded douches that don't understand that other people have different opinions, points of views, and lives. Just because you don't agree with them doesn't mean you need to outright insult them.

Listen up friend, my teacher tells me that my reading comprehension is AT LEAST 3rd grade level, maybe even 4th. Get it straight.

I understood from the very beginning that you were only giving your opinion. I just think that your opinion is wrong. :D

P.S. I'm more than a little jealous that the sharpness setting on your TV can make composite look as good as component. Technology these days is just so crazy. Can you give me the model # so that I can be on the lookout?

Sorry, I forgot to add my sarcasm disclaimer to that last post. I wasn't serious.

However, that is a very nice TV. Good find. The picture quality is excellent on old samsung and trinitron sets.
