Re: Ack's Sega CD RPG Guide
If only some of those Japan only games were translated... I would love to play them!
Nice nod to Pier Solar, I am still waiting for the one I ordered this time last year to show up.

Great guide ACK!
Like SpaceBooger said above It's great to hear about Pier Solar again, I'd forgotten all about it! Now I'm pinching pennies to Pre-Order a copy or two.

All kinds of awesome in that article. Good work, Ack.
Re: Ack's Sega CD RPG Guide
Thanks guys, glad you like it.
Yeah, there are a few in there that I'd really like to play, especially that Record of Lodoss War game. Too bad Sega CD translations just don't happen.

Re: Ack's Sega CD RPG Guide
I've never understood how I'll see a lot of BEST OF RPG lists that have JPN games on them. How the hell do people play these games? I mean, do you learn Japanese? Do you just wing it? It seems like a txt heavy game would be damn near impoossible to play without a translated version.
Re: Ack's Sega CD RPG Guide
Back in the day I read a lot of gaming magazines that featured translations for Japanese RPGs. I remember playing the Japanese demo of Final Fantasy 8 via those translations. It was slow, but worked. I also played Grandia, both Lunars, Front Missions 1 and 2, Parasite Eve, Wild Arms, and a few others in Japanese. I don't recall ever finishing any Japanese game, but it was certainly playable.
ShiningForceCentral.com, for instance, has several translations of Shining games. You might be too lazy to even think about starting a game like this, but if you have free time, it is certainly rewarding.

Though I can see how it would be rewarding, I think there's enough English RPG's out there to keep me busy first. I guess?
Re: Ack's Sega CD RPG Guide
But Méga Schwarzschild is an rpg...
