Here's the games I own for the Saturn so far (read this before you make recommendations, please. Not that I don't appreciate the efforts of those who recommended games that I already have, just seems like you guys could save some of your time typing :) ):

I'd say X-Men: Children of the Atom is high enough quality to play for a while. Also, since you like platformers, have you ever tried Shinobi Legions? The live-action sequences are campy at best, but the actual gameplay's a lot of fun to me.

Okay, I'll keep those in mind! Oh yeah, isn't DoDonPachi supposed to be really good? Or is it a bullet-hell type shooter? I love shooters, but I'll horrible at them, so a bullet-hell title usually just isn't worth my time.

And on Shinobi Legions, I've often thought of picking that game up, but wasn't sure what to make of it. So you'd say it's worth picking up? Where would you rank it amongst Shadow Dancer, Revenge of Shinobi, and Shinobi III?

Psychic Killer Taromaru is a pretty cool ninja game. And its considered one of the rarest Saturn games in existence.

DoDonPachi is a fantastic SHMUP. I highly recommend it as an energetic, colorful shooter.

What about Soukyugurentai? Really great shmup. On the adventure/RPG side, why not Magic Knight Rayearth?

I really couldn't tell you as I haven't played those three. Platformers generally aren't my thing after all. But hey, it let me cut digitized people in half and knock shuriken back with my sword, so I figured it can't be all bad.

You mentioned you want Metal Slug however it requires a RAM cartridge. I own Metal Slug for Saturn, however there are frame rate slow downs in the game. This is inexcusable because of the extra RAM.

Radiant Silvergun is an amazing shooter with graphics and superior game play.

If you like 2-D Fighters, get the Saturn SEGA Licensed 4MB cartridge (JP) or the Action Replay RAM Cartridge (4 in 1).

Let me tell you which games are a must have! I'm not into RPGs so I won't list any RPG games.

Powerslave (1st person 3d shooter)
ASUKA 120% Limited (2d fighter)
Astra SuperStars (2d fighter)
Saturn Bomberman (considered the best Bomberman)
Thunderforce V
Street Fighter Zero 1-3 (Zero2 is sweet by Zero3 is better)
Rayman (Saturn port is the best)
Radiant Silvergun
Panzer Dragoon I
Panzer Dragoon Zwei II (jaw dropping rail shooter)
Shinobi Legions
Nights Into Dreams
Soukyugurentai (Incredible 2d shooter)
Manx TT Bike (best motorcycle racing game)
Burning Rangers (visually stunning and awesome original gameplay)
F1 Challenge (i love this racing game)
Sega Rally
