OOH! In some strange way, I get just as excited about playing some of my old favorites on the Wii as I do playing some of the newer games. The games from the new list that I wish were coming out at launch are Pilot Wings, StarFox 64, and Mario Kart 64.
=====================
I rather be playing video games.

I just hope they add things like pro scan support, blitters, hell some sort of widescreen option would be freaking sweet. Just imagine playing super mario bros where you see about four times the level? That would be amazing. It would require a lot of re working for some games though, so it will most likely be a no show :cry:

They already said they wont. Earlier in the year they said "we're thinking about it" and now they've virtually flat out denied updating visuals and possibly online-multi. Not to mention, none of those games would benefit from either PScan or Widescreen unless they re-do the entire game to natively support 640x480 or 720x480.

n'k, it WOULD benfit from Pscan most definately, considering the wii's will make it look alot better than what my cheap 700 dollar tv's wimpy little ATi Xillion can do... and I said the widescreen would require reworking. It should output to 480i...I really doubt they would have it actually play in a not native resolution. Cnsidering it's using an emulator, they can really make it output to whatever they want me thinks. And where did they flat out deny this? Interview plz? I rabidly checked ign wii and never heard a peep about it...and on online multi, i wouldn't want that anyways, I just use kaillera. Add gmail talk to that and you got easy to use stuff for your friends round the country. I've played 4 or 5 times with my friend in florida (i live in cali btw) and it works perfect, tho I have to use a homebrew mic as im too lazy to actually buy one.

I wonder what mr duct has got to say on the subject :?:

Shouldn't it be like 240p or 480i or something?

Sprites and 2D games don't look better at higher resolutions, so - no it wouldn't. Displaying games at 480p would only serve to blowup the image and looka wkward, in the same way GBA games look on the GBA Player on the Wii. NES and SNES games are 320x240 - displaying that in 480p is just going to make the flaws far more obvious.

But its being emulated. Thats different than blowing up the image from the nes. And snes looks great at Hi-Res, SNES9x and ZNES make the games look even better. BTW, there is no gba player on the wii. And the GBA player on the gamecube, the games don't look bad, they just look bigger, and when played on a nice TV at 480p, they look awesome. Same goes with the Classic NES series on the gba. I know from first hand experiance that it look better at higher resolutions. Think about it like this.
Now, when you send a picture to your tv, it squishes or expands apicture to make it fit the TV screen. If the picture is at a higher resolution, it won't be expanded by the TV as much, and look much better. It's like saying DOOM doesn't look better on the XBLA at 720p (its not stretched, has black borders to keep the aspect ratio) than it did on your computer 12 or so years ago. You'd have to be practically blind to not see the improvement. It's more about clarity. Yes it may be possible to see the individual pixels, but that doesn't mean the game doesn't look clearer and more vibrant.

It does run in a form of LDTV on the NES, whether it is 240p or 280p or w/e, i dono, but most things before the 32-bit era didn't have the power to actually output a full 480i picture. Even than, only later games fully supported it. In the 128-bit gen, all games output to a full 480i or even 480p and above!
