I'm having a problem with my PS3/PSP remote play. It only can connect if the PS3 and PSP are on the same network, and the PS3 is in remote play mode, but with this method, it works in both Private Network and Internet mode. The trouble is, my PSP can't connect when on another network in remote play Internet mode. It gets to the "Connecting, may take up to 90 seconds" screen, but then gives me an error message saying that the connection to the PS3 timed out. I opened the port of my PS3's remote play, just to be sure, but it still doesn't work. What should I do?
I have an 80GB PS3, with the latest firmware, and a modified Model 1 PSP 5.00 M33-3 firmware.

Re: PSP Remote Play Problem
Are you behind a router/firewall?
If so then you need to forward your ports on the firewall/router so that you can connect into your network from outside. You also need to tell it the external IP for your network which is the one that is set by your ISP. You can find that out by using a service such as whatismyip.com.

Re: PSP Remote Play Problem
I forwarded the port on the routers of the networks of my PS3 and PSP used for remote play [9239], but it still didn't work. I also deactivated all antivirus and windows firewalls on my network.
Re: PSP Remote Play Problem
I recall having a similar problem, and found it ultimately was up to the internet connection from which you are connected to your PSP. I'm on the road somewhat often and it depends on what hotel I stay at, some work, some don't. Heck my in-laws house never worked and they didn't have a pw protected wireless!
In the end, it is a finicky feature, that I gave up on a long time ago. Probably because of the lack of content available on my PS3 that supports the feature...

Re: PSP Remote Play Problem
Don't forget both ports have to be forwarded on both networks. So if you are say, trying to use it at a university/college/net cafe etc then chances are their security settings are locked down tight and they will block all non-essential ports.
