GC Broadband and Component Find -- Do I need them?

Post by h8b1llg8ts »

I was at my local GS over the weekend and they had a Broadband adapter for $0.99 and two component cables for $4.99 each. I'd figure the cables will go with my Gamecube but doesn't my Wii (I have the components for it) run my GC games at 480p anyways?

Also, what will the adaptor do for me now?

I do believe you can still connect to Shtack's PSO server with the broadband adapter, and the component cables are good if you want to hook the GCN itself to an HDTV.

At the very least, you could turn a profit on these items. I'm pretty sure they fetch good money on eBay.

The only use for the adapter nowadays is for Mario Kart and Kirbys Air Ride. Component cables will get you a nice profit so I say go for it.

You don't. The Wii and GCN used entirely different cables. Your GCN games should display in 480p with the cables you currently have for your Wii.

Pretty much true. Which is a shame. You can still play homeland and phantasy star online on the cube with the bb adapter. Thing is you can play PSO on just about anything if you want to and it is probably easier to play somewhere else. And homeland is well... in japanese. I guess you can still play 1080° Avalanche, but why would you? Even air ride is kinda stretching it.

Really you are buying an adapter to hook up 2 gamecubes for 8 player Mario kart. Which... isn't THAT bad of a option to have and sounds like a good time. You just need 7 people around who want to play mario kart.

All that said.... i have a couple bb adapters. And you know- i just realized i don't even have 8 controllers for the gamecube. I am kind of a sucker.

also- wtf nintendo? you made a dialup modem and a broadband modem for the gamecube and then came out with a whole 5 fucking games to use them on. Two different modems for 5 games.
