N64 Mod Chips?
N64 Mod Chips?
Are there any N64 cartridge based mod chips that allow you to play downloaded N64 games? (Similar to the R4 on a DS.)
Re: N64 Mod Chips?
I believe the term you are looking for is flash cart, and as far as I know there are some, but none that are worth it, IMO. Emulation of the N64 is adequate (again, IMO).

Yeah, sounds like a flash cart. I recall once finding something about an N64 flashcart, but they're harder to find than the GBA/DS stuff or even the NES cart. I'd imagine it'd run you at least $60, and possibly more. And really, emulation isn't so good for the N64 unless you've got a USB adapter for the N64 controller (which I don't even know exists in manufactured form).

That problem can be fixed with this.MrPopo wrote:And really, emulation isn't so good for the N64 unless you've got a USB adapter for the N64 controller (which I don't even know exists in manufactured form).

Re: N64 Mod Chips?
Too bad the N64 is, IMHO, the worst controller conceived for a modern, popular gaming system.
But people want it for nostalgia and authenticity, so I can't complain about the existence of that adapter too much.

Re: N64 Mod Chips?
Regardless of your potential feelings on the N64 controller, it is still the official controller for the N64, and thus all games were created with it's layout in mind.

I don't think there is an N64 flash cart. Feel free to link me if you know of one though.
Your best bet is a Doctor V64. But those are rare and expensive. You're looking at spending around $300 if you can find one.

The other option is a V64 JR.Hatta wrote:I don't think there is an N64 flash cart. Feel free to link me if you know of one though.

I was looking into buying one but just couldn't justify spending $200+. I have about 30-40 of the essential N64 cartridges and will play others on Project64 1.7 which works very will in my opinion.

Yeah the Doctor V64 and the V64 Jr are what you seek, however they are rare and hard to get a hold of. I was going to buy one from a guy selling one on this very site about a year ago but I just couldn't justify the petrol money (he lived over 250 mile away) or the £150 he wanted for it.

Where can one obtain Project64 1.7? I heard most versions of this have viruses in them or something like that. Thanks.gtmtnbiker wrote:The other option is a V64 JR.Hatta wrote:I don't think there is an N64 flash cart. Feel free to link me if you know of one though.
