Recommended PS2 Mod Installation Service

Post by PhoenixReborn »

Hi guys. Newbie poster/longtime lurker here. I finally decided that I wanted to mod my fat ps2. I've been thinking about for like 3 or 5 years so I decided to just go ahead and research on it. The problem is that I'm horrible with tools and the likes. I know I will break that damn thing. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any recommended PS2 modding services that are out there it would be greatly appreciated it.

I always some some offers in craigslist in my area but I never knew if that was the safe route, but I know there is always a risk with this type of thing. Thank you guys in advance. :D

I think the recommended approach these days is FreeMcBoot. Do a google search for it. You'll find on that site someone offering to flash your memory card for free (just pay shipping).

What in the world is FreeMCBoot? I was looking for more of a modchip installation. I don't really want to remove the screws for a soft mod. I actually heard doing that destroys the laser.

There's quite a few threads on PS2 mod chips and MC Boot, recently in fact. If you might use the search function on the forum you should be able to find all the information you're looking for.

Nah. I googled it and they've yet to find a way to do MCBoot where you can play PS1 backups. Which is one of the reasons why I want to get a hard mod for my PS2.

I fancy a mod chip over a soft mod myself.

You ever see a slim ps-2 with hdcombo kit installed. I also have 2 ps-2's with a dms4 lite se and a modbo 4.0 I am going to sell soon.. Check out my buy/sell thread in the marketplace.
I have a bunch of really good ps-2 modchip's for sale overthere as well(dms4 pro, matrix infinity, crystal chip 1.0's)

Never worked with this guy personally, but I'll back up that I remember him selling a TON of stuff and always getting good feedback.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
