PS1 lightgun games on a PS3?

I own a 60GB PS3 and a LCD television. Would something like the EMS TopGun II, http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zo- ... -2vss.html ,allow me to play Elemental Gearbolt on the PS3, or will I need to play it on a PS1 and SDTV?

wow. that is a great question.

I know that most old ps1 gun games will support the guncon2 on the ps2. And the description box says that this gun that you linked to says you'll be able to play time crisis 2 with it, so i assume that it is pretty much like a guncon2.

but really- this is such a complex multi-generational hardware question who knows if it'll work. I would say you would just have to try it.

*edit* For anyone wondering: the guncon3 isn't compatible with anything other than time crisis 4 so it is right out as far as playing older games on the ps3. Apperntly it would have to be patched or something. With poor sales and no upcoming games for the guncon3, people aren't optimistic for support.

Thanks for the reply! Most likely, I'll just bite the bullet and order Top Gun II, but I'm hoping that someone else can shed some light on this issue. If nothing else, the Top Gun II apparently works with the pSX emulator, so it wouldn't be a total loss if it doesn't let me play PS1 lightgun games on my PS3.
