What was the best Mega Drive Road Rash game?

I love the first one when I was kid and I was looking to buy one of the back again. Which one was the best of the bunch and why?

I ask because its not always the most recent thats the best, sometimes fiddling with the formula detracts from the experience

Personally I'd say they are all unique to eachother to warrant a purchase, but my favourite is Road Rash.
Personally, I think Road Rash has smoother control, and better music than the other two.
Road Rash II is worth it for the multiplayer, but it's abundant on slowdown.
Road Rash III has less slowdown than Road Rash II, and has some pretty cool additional features - helicopters! - but it's very, very bright and I personally think it is the least appealing of the lot.

I'd recommend getting II or III for multiplayer, but the first game is my top choice.

I would tend to agree. The Sega CD port is particularly awesome.

I liked Road Rash 2 the best. It took all of the things I liked from Road Rash made them better and added Multi. I never had thought about slowdown before that really was a problem in 2. Still the jump in Hawaii was totally sweet with the really fast bikes! 10 seconds of hang time!

Like with Streets of Rage, everyone says 2 is the best, but I say 3. I had the luxary of not owning a genesis until '96, so every game I was acquiring was an unbiased experience. 2 is better than 1. 3 is better than 2. Applies to both series.

I liked the weapons and tracks in Road Rash III best but I probably spent the most time playing the first one. They were all good, though.

Roadrash was for the coomercial sheep that followed EA, Skitchin was for the real rebel elite... lol, ok perhaps not, I just personally liked it a bit more as it was easier to lay the smack down on your opponents I suppose, plus its not nearly a well known

I bought skitchin a few months ago but I just couldnt get the hang of it. There seemed to be a lot of chance involved but I couldnt get into keeping my speed up so that I could grab the car in front.

I remember when I first got my megadrive it came with road rash 1 and sonic, which I was most excited about as I had never heard of road rash at that point. I thought I'll throw in RR for 5 just to see what its like and then I'll get stuck into sonic... sonic didnt get a look in for days after that.

I vote 3. I like the music in Germany and Italy's levels, and it's got the best physics imo. I also like how in many of the races you just don't shoot to the front of the pack like you do in the first game; I've won a few races by as little as a tenth of a second.

Definitely! Road Rash 3's music was great. Plus, I liked the overall diversity of the tracks more.
