So, after all these years I sit down to finally play it. Its pretty good too. Same old sonic. One thing I did find a bit weird is the sound effects that are different to the sonic games made by sega. I expect that fanfare when I get a 1up and its just not right any other way.
Anyway, does switching between the time zones actually change anything about the levels other than making certain enemies harder to see?
And what the fuck is with losing a life and going back to the start of the level if you happen to press a button whilst paused?

The music changes and if you get the "bad" futures/pasts, the stage is harder.Curlypaul wrote: Anyway, does switching between the time zones actually change anything about the levels other than making certain enemies harder to see?

Re: Sonic CD
I had this on Sega CD.. and I could never get into it. I've always had a weird thing with games that deal with the same levels in "different times." I was always tempted to pick it up again in the Sonic collection they released for Gamecube... but it would probably just sit. I used to really dig the FMV intro though... and until recently one of the few reasons to own a Sega CD.

Oh sir, you are so badly mistaken. I know bashing the Sega CD is the cool thing to do, but it really is just ignorance. Who can forget Lunar 1 & 2, Android Assault, Popful Mail, Snatcher, Shining Force CD, Keio Flying Squadron, Robo Aleste, Soul Star, Vay, Lords of Thunder, and tons of other great games.Le_Mons wrote:... and until recently one of the few reasons to own a Sega CD.

Re: Sonic CD
I don't think saying that it was one of the few reasons is necessarily "bashing" the Sega CD. I owned one and had quite a few games.. and I don't want to get into the semantics of the word "few," but since I can only rely on my own opinion and I wasn't that into most of the games you mentioned, Sonic CD was one of the only reasons I picked up a Sega CD. Reread the post - I never said the Sega CD was crap.chipperkwah wrote:Oh sir, you are so badly mistaken. I know bashing the Sega CD is the cool thing to do, but it really is just ignorance. Re: Sonic CD
Saying that the intro vid to Sonic CD was one of the few reasons to own a Sega CD definitely qualifies as bashing. It's really kind of a bummer that you owned "quite a few games", but somehow managed to miss out on all the gems. That intro vid was really sweet though.
Oh, and in regards to the OP: I liked Sonic CD, but not nearly as much as Sonic 2!

Ahh I see - My sentence was poorly worded. I meant that I thought that Sonic CD was one of the few reasons to own the system. For me. And as a separate thought I really dig the FMV intro. I'm not bashing your fav system, bud. Relax.chipperkwah wrote:Saying that the intro vid to Sonic CD was one of the few reasons to own a Sega CD definitely qualifies as bashing. Re: Sonic CD
Lol yes it is indeed my favorite system, how could you tell?
I'm just so defensive nowadays after seeing so many sites put the Sega CD on their "Worst Consoles Ever" lists. Makes my blood boil. Sorry to jump on ya like that.

Re: Sonic CD
I for YEARS was hungry to play this game and when it came out in the Sonic Gems Collection I copped it and I dunno if I was to hyped or anything but I was highly disappointed.
I liked the look of the game and the design but just playing it itself was just weird. It no longer concentrated on speed which I really didn't like. The time travel aspect also did not play to my favor. I mean I don't totally hate the game. I LOVE the intro, the running in place charge up and the music. I never heard the japanese soundtrack but I think the music is great with my favriote being Collision Course Past(if I remeber the levels name correctly, the second world basically). Also eggmans laugh when u faced him is crazy creepy.
I mean the game will always have a cult feel to me because it was basically a myth till I played it and it holds its place in my heart but I just prefer genesis sonic gameplay.
On a Sidenote my friend has a sega cd and I dunno if his list just happens to be made of terrible FMV games but all the games I tried were pretty bad. Guess it's cause of his lineup.
