This thread just reminded me of something I haven't thought about for years. Back around 98 I actually bought this 4 page mem card for PS1 that had nothing but various FF7 saves on it. I wish I could remember what the packaging looked like. I've never heard of any other games getting such an item. The saves weren't permanent, and I did eventually just erase them all and use it as a normal 4x mem card. The saves were very weird too. They were quite obviously hacked, because they would have stats randomly maximized, and progress points with impossibly low game clocks. I also remember they didn't even use up the whole card. There were empty slots in page 4.
I literally bought this item in an EB, but it couldn't have been a licensed product. My EB at one time was selling a lot of odd/illegal things, including PSXChange boot discs. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I really want to see this item again. I must have sold it a long time ago.
FF7 themed PS1 memory card?
Re: FF7 themed PS1 memory card?
There were a few other games that got similar items, though not all on PlayStation. Quest 64 had a similar memory card, with saves at various points with various amounts of elements for magic.

I remember something pretty similar coming out for the first Monster Rancher game. It had special monsters and various items you could steal for your own save files.
And I never saw one for FF7, but I remember all my friends having PS1 memory cards with special FF7 label stickers from some magazine. Those were awesome...

I remember seeing these all the time back in the day. Especially for RPGs. Didn't see the point in them at all (same with any cheat device, apart from the one that let you unlock the extra levels in Goldeneye, always wanted that one but couldn't afford it).
I remember the ones for ISS and PES when it first came out when they still didn't have the right team/player names on the game. You could buy the memory card that had all the teams and all the players with the correct names and stats. They did ones every season so that you could get the latest stats and figures in your old games. Quite a cool little product really especially for the people who enjoyed Konami's game over the toss that is FIFA.
