Saturn rear interior-part missing? Have to set T/D at start

Post by isaacsquared »

I recently picked up a Sega Saturn and a few games. It works, but I have to reset the time/date every time I start again.

Suspected culprit:
On the back, on the left side (if you're facing the back), part of the case is off, so you can see inside the console. There's a connector like you'd use for a card or cartridge, but no part actually there.

Is something missing, or is there a different problem entirely?

Thanks,
~Isaac

You should be able to see a watch battery in that same spot, now take it out and replace it with a fresh CR2032 watch battery after which you should be able to set your clock and save your games.

Don't worry about the expansion slot as it was never used in the US.

EDIT: Clarified response.

Wait, the Saturn had a Lunar title that used the VCD chip in the US?
