Anyone good with photoshop and/or palette swapping?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Anyone good with photoshop and/or palette swapping?

Post by Anapan »

These would make awesome wallpapers if handled correctly:

Via Joystiq (A website I find occasionally and just decided to check out because of their coverage of Sonic in UT)

Palette swapping? You want them colored or something?

Yup. False palettes would make them look really cool. I tried and it wasn't very successful.

I don't think that palette swapping means what you think it means. Isn't palette swapping a technique used by game designers to save space on a disc/cartridge and make it seem like there are more sprites or 3-d objects by swapping colors on a same single sprite or object?

I think you just want people to color them in.

I did a quick 10 minute job on a guy for ya. Hope you like the n64's unique footprint

Oohh! Nice!
It means what I think it means. I reduced the colors to greyscale-256 and loaded other palettes in place of the greyscale black-white gradient.
'course it didn't turn out that great so I had to increase the color depth and use filters afterward. I'd like to see some more of what you guys can come up with.
Here's my attempts with the SNES:

Ah. This was the palette I wanted to try.

Very funny,I found those pics yesterday and made a wallpaper myself.

Not very ambitious, but I like it. :D

This is pretty sweet. I'd like to see more in the way of nick's.

That nintendo collage would be pretty slick if it's backgrounds were unified. Maybe some arrows would be cool to, showing the progression...

Yes well I did it in a combination of Word and Paint, so not exactly a professional job.

Pleas feel free to improve on it if you can!
