Modded saturn not playing burnt games

Post by z0de »

Hi all, ive just got my saturn modchip and it can play real games but i cant get to play any burnt ones. It just goes to the the audio cd menu where the 'run' button asks for cd+g channels.

What ive tried:
burning in nero both dao and dao/96
burning in Alcohol 120% using raw/dao, dao/sao.

the games are pal games so its not a region problem, i was wondering if it would be possible for a saturn to work with a broken modchip or is more likly that i have bad files?

I have a sayno pal saturn with modchip on far right ribbon cable connected to +5v and a-b soldered, it needs a new battery which is in the post.

P.s on the ram cart is to the left 1mb or 4mb?

If originals are working, than it's probably the burned CDs.
If the chip is a dud, originals won't work either.

Are these games you copied from originals or ones you downloaded?

Ok -- have you tried burning them according to my Nero guide?:

As for the RAM cart, I'm not able to double-check this at the moment buy I want to say 1MB mode is on the left & 4MB is on the right?
A simple experiement will figure it out.

thats the guide im using. im begging to think its the disks(mr.data 52x cdr) im using as im 100% sure the image im using is good now.

i only asked about the ram cart as i was worried that i might damage something by using the wrong setting for some games.

No damage will be done -- it will just to you you don't have the RAM if its set to the wrong one.
And the quality of the the CDR media and the burn speed (lower is better) can definately make a difference.

Ive got some TDK disks, they didn't work. Do you think increasing the laser power would help?. If so could you post a pick of the orange screw as i cant find it on my sayno.

.:update:.

well i know its the sautrn or the modchip now. i burnt a game and booted it in a saturn emulator and it worked fine.

what could it be?

I wouldn't play with the laser power.
I'll see if I can think of anything else to try...
