Help with hotel in Jacksonville, FL
Help with hotel in Jacksonville, FL
So, I'm trying to book a hotel for a honeymoon. We're driving through/stopping in Jacksonville, Fl for one night on the way to port canaveral for a Carnival cruise. Anyone been to a nicer hotel there and have a suggestion or a warning? I've been, but we stayed outside the city, so I don't remember where that was. Any and all help appreciated. I know we've got some Floridians and surely some of you others have traveled to Jacksonville...

I can't tell you about hotels in Jacksonville, but I used to live in Saint Augustine, which is about an hour south of Jacksonville. I'd say if you are going on a honeymoon you should just skip Jax and go there. There is the old historic downtown district, which has lots of small bed in breakfasts if you're into that kind of thing. Also, you can hit up the beach, which has your standard hotels. Depending on how long you stay, Saint Augustine has some pretty cool things to see. Also, the St. Augustine beach is much nicer IMO.

Re: Help with hotel in Jacksonville, FL
St Augustine is the shit... I'd opt that as well. Never really liked Jacksonville, ugly city in my opinion.
As for hotels IN Jacksonville. What are you really looking for? The mid priced ranged hotels I don't have any horror stories for. Back in like the mid 90's I have some horror stories of the penny hotels. But that was over a decade ago and was really in a hotel that you would KNOW was going to be crap (10 dollars a night, don't cry when you find cum stains on the pillows).
There are some high class nice ones there as well... but as already suggested. If you're gonna go for that... then just get your ass to St. Augustine, it's the oldest city in the USA and really pretty in the historic district. When you first roll up on it from I-95 you might think "eh, what's this... looks like every other strip mall along I-95 in FL"... but once you get into the city it's different.
