i was hesitant on putting this up here because it might make me sound dumb and I wasn't sure if this popped up anywhere on this site. I was looking up for a good dreamcast game to burn (I have alot so there isnt many games that i want now) and ended up finding a site that had some sega saturn games as well and figured i'd check them out as well. what i found confused me quite a bit. the rom was NIGHTS and it claimed to be a selfboot cdi (note there are other games, and quite a bit, thats claim this too)and had a comment saying it works. Of course I couldn't believe this and decided to google whatever I could find on the subject.....only to come up with nothing but DC selfboots. so what does it mean by this. if it is "selfboot" as it claims then it should work without a modchip, right? I know that it would be useless to make a selfboot image anyways if you have a modchip (as i do not) because a normal iso would run anyways. I tried looking on the forums of the site only to find really nothing. this would be awsome for me because i refuse to use the disk swap method and i have no money for the modchip. I'm cautious on burning the game and trying it because i only have two cd-r's left and won't be able to get more for awhile so i want to make them worth it.
here's the site of the download if anyone is curious.

Re: sega saturn selfboot
I think they're just confused. Their software was designed for dreamcasts so there's a "selfboot" field. When they enter a Saturn game, well they have to put something in the "selfboot" field.

Re: sega saturn selfboot
Well than they should have just put "no" in that field.
Re: sega saturn selfboot
Then people would be wondering where they can get a Sega Saturn boot disk. Either way it's bad.
Proper thing to do is to make another table for Saturn games. But people are lazy, I understand.

Re: sega saturn selfboot
i figured myself it wasn't worth it (exactly why i didn't download it) but when i have more cd-r's ill check it out anyways and report it here so others will know. i don't expect anyone else to do it because its most likely a waste of time, effort, a cd, and space. ^^ thanks for the idea's on what it could be and i'm still open to any input that others have.
