... and heading out to college. Just sent in my letter of intent to CU Boulder so in around 4 months, I'm be living in Colorado. Kind of a tough choice between it and Evergreen out in washington, but Boulder just seemed right in the end, that and they actually had a concrete film school, which is what I plan to major in. Anywho, I'm pretty psyched about moving out west and considering I have barely wrapped my head around the whole idea, I figured I'd share the news with my favorite fellow nerds.
So yeah, what should I bring? Where should i look for stuff? How many of y'all are in the area(Ryan, your an hour out in denver if I'm not mistaken.)? Snes or Dreamcast (or gens, n64... well you can look at my sig)? Any advice no matter how arbitrary would be appreciated.
go BUFFS!

First off, are you living in a dorm for the first year? I always figured it was best to live the first year in the dorm and then go find an apartment. For that first year, only bring one or two consoles, so you don't get overloaded. I brought my SNES and PS2. Also, keep in mind some of your buddies will likely want to play, so multiplayer is a good way to figure out what to bring, which means DC or the Nintendo 64 for 4 player.
Leave the rest at home in your room. Once you've gotten through your first year, find that apartment and then start bringing up all your other gear.
Have fun in the Rockies.

Don't make the same mistake I did. If you have a gun bring it. You'll be surprised how much crazy shit goes down in a dorm and you'll be embarrassed when everyone is pulling out their chrome and you forgot yours at home.

Bring the SNES and Street Fighter II. There is not a college student alive who doesn't enjoy throwing down in that classic.

Shit where'd you go to school, in every school I know of brandishing a weapon in the dorms is a sure way to get thrown out real fast and lose a bunch of money.nickfil wrote:Don't make the same mistake I did. On the same note I live off campus (well actually my school doesn't have dorms), and I've been meaning to pick up a gun one of these days since my gf and i don't live in the nicest neighborhood.

I would say DC that way you got multiplayer fighting games and a couple good RPGs. I would also then get a couple of good USB pads (I use a PSX to USB adapter) and you can emulate SNES, NES, GEN, MAME, etc on your computer since you will already have that with you. I think in the dorm you want to take stuff you enjoy, but not stuff others would enjoy taking from you.Ack wrote:First off, are you living in a dorm for the first year? Have fun, college was maybe the best 4 err..5..make that 6 years of my life. Not that its all downhill after that or anything, but live it up while you can. Have fun, but not too much fun though, you don't want to fall behind that first semester and have a hole to work out out of.
I'd just bring one classic console, something with more two player/multiplayer games. I wouldn't bring a ton of games with me, things in the dorms have a habit of dissapearing. I'd talk to your roommate once you find out who he is and have them bring a current console.
