Recently I have become addicted to old time radio drama. I hate the crap on tv and there aren't many movies I care to go see so this provides some much needed variety. So far I am listening to:
-Richard Diamond. Fantastic detective show, likable characters, action packed stories with plenty of humor and some dry wit. HIGHLY recommended.
-Dimension X/X Minus 1. Really great sci-fi show, it is campy by todays standards but the series is so well done that it is still very much believable. Mars is Heaven is one of my favorite episodes. Again, highly recommended.
-Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar. Great series about an insurance investigator who solves crimes related to insurance fraud, murder, etc. Great series, although it starts off pretty rough but once it hits it's stride it is amazing.
-Captain Midnight
-Dangerous Assignment, fun little secret agent series.
-The Lives of Harry Lime, if you have seen the movie The Third Man then you will be plenty familiar with the title character. This is a prequel kinda to the movie, Harry Lime travels the globe getting into all kinds of trouble. Great series but the audio quality is very poor.
-Dragnet, I am sure some of you are familiar with Dragnet, a "true crime" style show. Lighting fast delivery and plots keep this series exciting, highly recommended.
Here is a great place to download these old shows and hundreds more, if you are looking for something different then give it a try.

Re: old time radio
Maybe so, but unfortunately I couldn't find the greatest radio drama ever: The Detective Story Hour, featuring The Shadow.
Who knows what evil lurks within the hearts of men?
The Shadow knows.
How could anybody not love that?!?!?!

Have you listened to the Les Paul Show?
There's also some great old time music on the archive. Listen to this and tell me your jaw doesn't drop.

The three radio adapations of the original Star Wars trilogy were really good. And it's interesting that they produced them long after the concept of a radio drama had pretty much died out in favor of TV.

I know! I was searching high and low for episodes of The Shadow. It's a shame really, that was one of the first shows I went looking for too.Ack wrote:Maybe so, but unfortunately I couldn't find the greatest radio drama ever: The Detective Story Hour, featuring The Shadow.

"I hate the crap on tv"
Then you haven't watched Breaking Bad!
I think now is the best time for tv in recent memory, I didn't used to hardly ever watch tv but now I watch:
Breaking Bad, The Office, Fringe, CSI, Burn Notice, Flight of the Conchords, and does anyone know when Always Sunny comes back?
Also where can I find these Star Wars radio shows?

Meh, the greatest television show ever ended when X-Files went off the air. So many great shows have ended over the years. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Knight Rider, Flash Gordon, Manimal...such a shame.
