All the users need to know is if youtube displeases them, they need to find another site. It's that simple. Don't stick with a sinking ship. You do no have a voice on youtube and you never did. They will not change for your sake. All you can do is leave when it starts to suck.

The changes on Youtube are not surprising. Youtube is loss-generating - about $1,5 million a day. If it doesn't change, it will go bankrupt. As a post on Geek.com says:

The problem is a huge one. Unlike Hulu, almost all of YouTube’s content are home made videos, and these are essentially unmonetizable. Identifying the content of these videos for applicable ads is difficult, and the average CPM rate for yet another cat video or teenager’s whiny vlog is next to nill. Yet YouTube’s very nature as an online video repository means that the hosting costs of serving up these videos grows exponentially. There’s no ceiling in sight for YouTube’s traffic costs, but in order to actually cover the costs of 2009’s estimated traffic alone, YouTube needs to pull in almost $10 CPM for every video shown. That’s just not possible.

An aside:

You guys may know about this, but you can download youtube videos to your computer simply by typing the phrase 'pwn' before the phrase youtube.com in the url for the video you want to see.

For example, I love the intro to Digital Devil Saga because "Danger" is a great song:


If I want to get links to download the video I just add 'pwn' to the URL above like so:
http://www.pwnyoutube.com/watch?v=M6WNVme9Tto

This will redirect me to a site that will translate the video for me into a downloadable movie file.

Voila! Youtube gets pwned!
