Digital Pictures and FMV Games!

Okay, I know these are the black sheep of gaming, but I have a real love for all those Full Motion Video Games from back in the 90's and especially the one's on the Sega CD. I was obsessed with Double Switch. In fact, I think I had a love for all games made by Digital Pictures. I know this is crazy, because looking back now almost all of them are laughable, but I think back on them with rose tinted glasses.

Did any of you guys ever get into them? If you hated them, which almost everyone did, why?

I didn't like too many Sega CD games except for Snatcher, Sonic CD, Earthworm Jim: SE, and maybe Time Gal or Sewer Shark.. most just were Genesis ports with enhanced sound and some FMV's added.. but still had some great memories of the early CD format and it's advancements at the time..

I just played Kris Kross: Make My Video last night. Digital Pictures made some of the most hilarious games ever.

These games might be laughed at today, but they actually had a big impact in one way: Night Trap was so "realistic" that it got bone-headed politicians in Congress to call hearings that led to the creation of the ESRB and its rating system.

If I ever get a Sega CD, I want to get all of these games, just for effect.

I wouldnt say you should get ALL of them. A few would be good though. I hae a few myself.. You need to at least get the "big dawgs" like Night Trap and Dragons Lair

I don't know much about FMV games, but I tend to steer clear of Digital Pictures, so I really don't know what to tell you. Only Full Motion games I got any enjoyment out of were Time Gal and Road Avenger, as well as some nice point and click adventures like Snatcher, Rise of the Dragon, Wing Commander, Space Adventure Cobra, Panic!, and the SCUMM titles. There are alot of totally overlooked classics on that system, and it's a real shame. The system has some outstanding titles for lovers of RPG's, Shmups, Graphic Adventures, and Action-Platformers.

Sorry can not hate on those games since I put a nice peice of my life away on playing them. Night Trap was my favorite how can you not like girls in pajamas and stupid traps? Okay maybe you can, but I had plenty of fun doing it and will do it again one day just for a laugh.

I have put in a lot of time with Corpse Killers: Graveyard Edition for the Sega Saturn, an enhanced version of the Sega CD game from Digital Pictures. Cheesy as all hell, but the game was pretty fun, somewhat functional and was, I feel, their best work (although I have never played Double Switch). It looks horrible, but when playing, it was actually pretty easy to play and the most arcade like out of all their works.
