I don't know why but I am not all that excited about this game. I loved the first one, but this one just doesn't excite me. And the big sister just looks like a Big daddy and a spider splicer fucked. From the clip you just linked she doesn't appear to have any real menace about her, and for the main boss that is dissapointing. Maybe playing the game might be different and she may well be as scary as hell, but so far I'm not really looking forward to bs2.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Yeah, I got the first one on the cheap a few months ago; it was good, very well made, but not my cup of tea. I made it to the part where you have to take photographs and haven't picked it up since. Like Droid Party I am not too excited about this new title. It looks real nice in the video though.

I made the mistake of playing System Shock 2 after playing Bioshock. Now the game is ruined for me, as it really is just System Shock 2 set in the 50's with the interface dumbed down for consoles.

Bioshock would have been awesome if it was actually the game that reviewers said it was. Complex moral decisions? What? The only moral decision you make in the game is whether or not to murder young girls. Um, not a whole lot of grey area there. Immersive? What? Enemies who keep unrealistically respawning and weapons that don't work like their real world counterparts is immersive? Seriously, you can shotgown someone jumping towards you and you'll still get hit. Doesn't even phase them, like the shot just went through them. Yeah, that's realistic.

I thought this was really funny as well. It's not like you have a lot to think about. You just have to consider if you want more or less ADAM. The game itself justifies your "complex moral decisions", since you need to do stuff, so it's not like I'll lose my sleep thinking that I destroyed the life of an innocent human being.Gamerforlife wrote:Bioshock would have been awesome if it was actually the game that reviewers said it was. Re: New Bioshock 2 gameplay footage
I loved Bioshock. I've only recently gotten into modern FPS and games like this and HL2 have helped draw me in. I'm not the competitive head-shot type.
I was down on the sequel because I felt like Bioshock kind of stood on its own. Do we really need a sequel to every damn game that's cool? But the more I see, the more keyed up I am. I'm watching it with cautious optimism.
The moral choice wasn't very deep, and it seems like it never is in games. It's always black or white. We need some gray area. Maybe they'll approach that in the sequel.

Re: New Bioshock 2 gameplay footage
I do give Bioshock credit for being a completely single player experience. Not exactly the norm for shooters today. Even Capcom has sold out by making Resident Evil 5 a co-op game and adding downloadable content with versus modes. Would have been nice if Mikami had designed RE 5 instead of that hack Takeuchi, but I digress. I did like that Bioshock at least attempted to make single player still relevant.RadarScope1 wrote:I loved Bioshock. As for your point about games always being black and white when it comes to morality, I think Bioware has been making some nice strides forward there.
