If you own a ps3 and not this game, there is really no excuse not to pick this up. Not sure how long the sale lasts.

That is a steal! I had thought it was getting pretty hard to find, so snagging one for $30 is sweet. Might even buy two and keep one sealed

Picked this up today (with an additional 10% of coupon) and will try it out tomorrow - hope I like it better than the demo. I'm getting it primarily on the advice of all the people here who have salivated over it, so hopefully your recommendation turns out to be a good one!
Also, Gamestop's only "new" version of the game was an unsealed copy - they told me me all of the GameDays sale games were like this. Not sure if I believe them or not, but thought I'd let people know...

My copy was "new", but opened as well. Not to beat a dead horse since there is many a topic on this subject, but it's highway robbery for them to say the game is "new" when it's been opened. It's still a great deal, so I'm not too upset, just upset at their ridiculous policy.

Microsoft used to have a policy that if the seal was broken, you couldn't sell it as new.
We should look into this. Would I buy a box of cookies that were opened? Nope.
Why should video games be exempt?
This is all because these companies are too cheap to buy proper security measures and hire employees that actually give a shit.
Seriously - has anyone actually looked into contacting Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo and ask them why it's OK for these stores to outright violate their policy that once the seal is broken it's no longer new?
What is to stop these stores from putting pirated games in cases?

This is how I would describe the demo. The demo is good for getting a taste of what the combat engine is. It helps you understand that it's a strategy RPG that has some action elements (the real time movement and potshots). However, you get NO story, and the level itself isn't that good for giving you a feeling for how to manuever your tank and how to use map features.dsheinem wrote:Picked this up today (with an additional 10% of coupon) and will try it out tomorrow - hope I like it better than the demo. Yeah, I am enjoying the game more than I did the demo. I am about to start Chapter 3 so I'm not too far into it - but still enjoying the game quite a bit. The story isn't especially gripping so far, but I expect it will get more interesting now that the plot seems to be leaving the first area of the game.MrPopo wrote: This is how I would describe the demo. That said, I don't know if I would even bother too much with playing through the story if there was a multiplayer version of the combat system - it would be lots of fun against some human opponents!
Re: Valkyria Chronicles new at Gamestop/EBGames for $30
Yeah, multiplayer would be quite interesting with this engine. You can do a lot of manuevering to give yourself a favorable setup on the opponent's turn. If they try to move any of their guys they can be met with a hail of bullets from three of your squad members if you do it right.
Apparently the producer is interested in doing another game with the same engine and universe. The game did well enough to be a greatest hit in Japan, so hopefully he goes through with it.
