Just picked up an MVS.

Post by Ack »

Currently it's got King of Fighters 94, The Super Spy, Samurai Shodown 2, and World Heroes in it, though I'll probably be picking up Samurai Shodown from Fast in the coming weeks. Honestly, I've been playing World Heroes the most, which is pretty funny considering how much I like the Samurai Shodown games.

I'm starting to search lists for games to pick up, some of which are pretty obvious(I will someday own a Metal Slug for this baby...), but I was looking for suggestions. Especially Beat 'Em Ups. What are the good ones, what should I avoid? I just want to know personal opinions of other Racketboy members, you know? So what should I grab?

Congrats!
So what's the most you'd want to pay for a cart?

You can actually find Metal slug , and Metal Slug 2 pretty cheap on MVS. Just be aware of "boots", they are everywhere on ebay. The best place to pick some up is neo-geo.com. Metal Slug 2 has alot of slow down, 3 is the best, X is cheaper but better than 2 with no slowdown. And 1 is really easy to find.
Top Hunter is a great beat em up, but if you like really addicting sports games that are a ton of fun, go for Neo Turf Masters and League Bowling.

Congrats and welcome to the Neo Geo Family my friend. 8)

So jealous.

Cool beans so far. Racket, if possible, I'd prefer paying under 100 bucks for a cart, though I realize in some cases that isn't going to be realistic. Neo-Geo.com has a price list, but I think it's a bit out of date, so I don't know what I should be paying right now. Still, it isn't an AES. Having looked up Neo Geo stuff on eBay, I can safely say that owning an AES is about as cost effective as buying a new Porsche once a month.

I'm going to register for Neo-Geo.com to start finding out about pricing and such. I really want to find a few games, titles like Last Blade and Last Blade 2, and Sengoku 3 looks pretty interesting. Are there any sellers I should specifically avoid on eBay?

Thanks for all the congratulations, heheh. This thing's really cool.

$100??? Think more $10-50 unless you just don't have any access.

I do not fear bootlegs since I'm not a collector, I just want them to run. Yanton is a guy on ebay, but you can save fees by going direct:

Neo-Geo.com does have a good FS/T area, just don't get all crazy about complete kits and the ever money draining, Matching Serials. You can also try Shmups for deals also.

Suggested titles: Windjammers, Magical Drop 3, Real Bout 2, Nam, Ninja Masters. I never got into NG for beat'em ups so I never really got any but Sengoku 3 is good, but will run you some dough.

Welcome to the club.

Well dang. Thanks for setting me straight on pricing, Majors. I really appreciate the help.

I do have a question about that site. If the label is listed as fake, what does that mean?
