Atari Lynx handheld

Post by lost_within »

Well...it falls under "others" to me so ill post here.

Today at a fleamarket i ran across a minty lynx handheld, with offical carry bag that holds 12 games, came with 8 games, ac adapter, and all the manuals for the games, cept maybe 1.

She was asking 20$ for it all which to me was still a deal, i mean its in GREAT shape. So i asked if i could test it out...well it wouldnt turn on...so i asked if she would take 10$. Done deal. So i get in the car...i look...and the game was in backwards. I flipped it around and tada! it works...only problem, no sound unless you use headphones...which is fine anyway i suspose.

Here is my question...whats the value on these things? ebay is all over the place and this is the first one i ever had...here are the games:

Crystal mines 2
road blasters
joust
pinball jam
kung food
cali games
pac land
hard driven
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

yours is valued right at 20$

since the value of this kinda stuff depends on what a buyer is willing to pay .

but congrats !

i always wanted a lynx (they had a tv tuner which is why i wanted it when i was little)

if the sounds doesn't work, you may want to try and get a replacement speaker . i'm sure if you cracked it open you could find a similar match for it

nice- i love the neo geo pocket. Did you get the color one?

As far as lynx goes- it is a small library. I had one when i was a kid, but sadly it got sent to a salvation army. My brother and I played a lot of road blasters. That is a fun game, and a nice bonus to the stack you have already. As far as others, my brother and I clocked the most time on...

rygar - by far my favorite on the lynx. It is nothing like the nes rygar, which is a good thing.
todds adventures in slime world
Shadow of the beast
Warbirds

I hear dinolympics, Zarlor Mercenary and Xenophobe were fun, but i've never played them. There is a double dragon port on the lynx too, but i've never played it and can't speak to the quality.

I have a lot of nostalgia with the lynx. I wish it did better.

Thanks for the extra games ill have to check some of them out for sure. Its a neat handheld...its a monster in my hands though lol.

Also yeah the neogeo is the pocket color, typical blue camo. I dont have any games for that...but i already know what i want and need for it lol. I just turned it on and it did the setup deal.

Road blasters is pretty nice though, out of all the games i tested that actually kinda made me go hmmm...just maybe i can get into this lol.

yeah- the model 2 in particular is a THICK handheld. My brother had the long model 1, i had the model 2. One thing i love is that you can actually turn it around and have it be for a lefty. That blew my mind when the lynx came out. I can't believe that more handhelds don't do that.

sadly- Like i said before, because there wasn't a ton of support for the lynx the library is small. However, maybe this is a plus because if you pick up a very small stack of games (unless you are collecting to completion) your collecting for the system is pretty much done.

Roadblasters is also on the nes and i think the sega genesis as well fyi. I haven't played those versions, but I'm happy to hear the lynx version is still fun.

The neo geo pocket is pretty well covered on this board. Best advice for the neo geo pocket is to get a replacement battery for the back of it. Otherwise you'll be setting up the date and time all the damn time. Enjoy that clicking thumbstick. Even though it is easy to emulate the pocket, i love the way the hardware feels. One of these days i have some spare time i want to pick up an after market screen and mod it to get that thing backlit.

the neo pocket stick is the best feeling thing ever lol, takes a complete dump on the psp in my opinion.

As for flea markets...they always rock...i still like the sealed 3do controller i found lying around for 5$ lol.

But also good point...ill wait around and just buy a stack of 15 or so games for the lynx...sell doubles and enjoy the rest :D
