RCA Output for Genesis 2

Post by Chicago0787 »

I am looking to add a RCA style video output on my Genesis 2. I already have an audio mod that i am going to use so i now need a video mod. Any ideas?

You know you can just buy an rca cable for the genesis 2 right? You can get one for the model 1 as well but that system only has mono audio. That aside, I'll bite anyway

On my model 1 genesis, I did a stereo audio (wire to the headphones jack, it's got crystal clear stereo) and composite video mod. I got the video from the underside of the A/V port, which if you only want composite video I would think it work just fine on a model 2. I assume you'd know to wire video out to the center post of your RCA jack and ground the shield to the ground on the genesis connector.

note the pin numbers are wrong so you'll have to make sure you don't go by the pin numbers on that diagram.

s-video is a bit harder, and varies depending on what video chip is in your genesis 2. a certain chip damn near directly outputs s-video (you need a resistor on each line). another one is a little harder, you need to amplify the signals a bit. see http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthr ... ?p=1285161 and read the first several posts. If you've never been to GameSX.com, browse around there. Tons of good info on all sorts of mods, most of which are out of my league but still great to admire.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
