Hello
Unlike many people, FMV give me a big nostalgia effect and they appeal to me. I know they are cheesy and they suck, but I would like to get a taste.
I am looking for advice on how to do that. You really think I should go out and get a sega cd, knowing how old they are and the all the defects, plus the weak weak game library?
I really just want a taste, i am not collector. Is there a way to emulate?
advice? Another system is better for fmv games?

Re: FMV of sega cd
Is your goal to play the FMV games, or just see the FMV scenes? If you want to play, then you can use Kega Fusion, which will handle basically everything related to the Genesis and its addons. You can get ISOs off of places like Underground Gamer.

Wow, you did no research whatsoever, I see.
As is mentioned, Fusion is your best bet for emulation. You can download the images from many different sources. Coolrom.com is one example. It should be noted that the games can be burned and played on the actual sega cd unit without the need for a modchip or any kind of hacking to your unit.
There are many more reasons to own or emulate the sega cd unit besides (lol) FMV. There actually quite a few great games on sega cd... I really don't consider the library to be "weak weak".

I agree Kega Fusion will work if you just want to test the waters of the Sega CD. However, there are a few gems for Sega CD like Sonic CD and Snatcher but most of the games unfortunately were Genesis ports with better music or FMV scenes added..MrPopo wrote:Is your goal to play the FMV games, or just see the FMV scenes? Re: FMV of sega cd
I have a Sega CD FMV player (possibly converter aswell) for windows somewhere. If you're interested I'll dig it up. It plays back most of the FMV sequences on a disc without emulating the game itself.
Re: FMV of sega cd
thanx everyone
I didn't care to research because last time I checked
most stuff after the snes and genesis is very difficult to emulate
with problems in a lot of games. I hear N64 games are to emulate+ saturn is impossible.
So I never thought any one cared to do a sega cd emulator.
I am not sure if i want to see the sequences or play the games.
But since i can get my hands on some games(illegally free). Ill check it out.
I am not really looking to play full games. 1 reason is that I have like 4 consoles and ton of games to play.So not much time. maybe in the future though.

Re: FMV of sega cd
man you dont know what you want do you?
N64 can be emulated pretty accurately, Saturn is OK. Its been more than 5 years since SNES and Genny were the ceiling of emulation, so you may want to do 30 seconds of research and get an idea of how far emulation has come since you last checked. Lots of cool stuff out there.
Sega Cd is easy and pretty accurate, but I guess you arent even interested a whole 1 day later.

You are kind of right, I just want a taste. I cant justify purchasing a whole console+cd's .nateup2 wrote: Sega Cd is easy and pretty accurate, but I guess you arent even interested a whole 1 day later.
I am happy emulation got that far. Hearing you saying 5 years genesis and snes was the top, I kind of remember that probably that was the last time I checked on emulation, my computer is around 7 years old so its not in good shape to test newer stuff :p
Speaking of emulation, guys that work on such programs need to be appreciated. i think everyone should donate, most of the emulation software is free as I know. Glad to hear they found a way around the saturn, it was like IMPOSSIBLE back then!
Re: FMV of sega cd
You may be surprised by how much you can run on your 7 year old computer. I would imagine it can handle the Neo Geo emulators... maybe the N64 and Saturn stuff, not sure without knowing any of the specs.
Re: FMV of sega cd
actually it maybe... probably is more like 7 or more years since snes and gen were it
