No Sega lightgun games for PS2?

Post by noiseredux »

I noticed that an upcoming Together Retro month is dedicated to Sega Lightgun games -- but it seems to me that none of them were released on PS2. That's weird isn't it?

I think is the only one is Vampire Night,I never played it before. It was produced by Sega and distributed by Namco, does this count? Their is mostly Time Crisis games only, they should of ported House of the Dead 3 on PS2.
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade

vampire night is ok- too much mediocre story if you ask me. I guess there was an anime? On that platform the time crisis games blow them away and as far as sega light gun games, it is probably one of the weakest. It really isn't worth playing unless you really love light gun games.

That's too bad. With the future Together Retro I contemplated tracking it down. Of course a used copy with Guncon would probably run me $60 or so.

The guncon is worth picking up for sure. Just because vampire night isn't great doesn't mean there aren't good gun games on there. The time crisis games are really well made. Think your regular one shot per trigger pull, but instead you hold down for full auto with a huge clip at your disposal. Plus the cover system is pretty cool. The whole thing provides a very different feel from the House of the dead or virtua cop. AND, if you have access to another fat ps2/TV/ilink cable you can play the same mission from 2 different perspectives.

The other games are just some nice after dinner mints. Dino Stalker, Vampire night and Ninja assault. I think some ps1 guncon games will run on it too.

oh- and i love gun games, so this might be taken with a grain of salt. But yeah- I think anyone would like the time crisis series.

I've heard light gun games don't work with LCD televisions. Is that true? I haven't tested Virtua Cop...

Yes that's correct. To play light gun games you have to have a CRT TV.

Yr enthusiasm definitely makes me want to hunt a Guncon down. I probably will at some point, but since it's not part of the Together Retro, I won't be attempting to hunt it down as soon as I would have.

cool man- glad to hear it. I got lucky about a year ago and found a pair of complete guncons. One packed with time crisis and the other with time crisis 3 for 30 bucks total. It was a steal. Apparently the guy was having trouble moving them. I didn't know they were going for so much on ebay.

Scooter is correct- it is why the wii has a IR sensor bar packed with it. So that the flat LCD tv can keep track of the wiimote. Same reason why time crisis 4 comes packed with a couple sensors you put around your television. I think it has to do with how the gun tracks the shots.

Is Vampire Night horrible? I like horror themed games.
