We're all gamers, that's an accepted fact. With gamers, there is an unspoken charter of gaming - certain accomplishment we assume that we have all achieved.
So what are your true gaming confessions? What would you normally be almost embarrassed to admit as a gamer? I'll go first.
1) I have never finished Chrono Trigger, depsite owning it on 3 different systems.
2) I have never personally finished Super Mario Bros. 3.
3) I spent over $35 finishing Golden Axe in the arcade and got grounded for a week.
4) I gave away my NES and SNES and have spent every day since regretting it.
5) I've only ever finished two Zelda games - Adventures of Link and Ocarina.
Whew, that felt good to get it off my chest.

Re: True Gaming Confessions
1. Adventure of Link is way too hard. Never came close to beating that one.
2. As much as I love Mega Man games, Mega Man X is the only one I ever beat.

Re: True Gaming Confessions
1. I once owned a Turbo CD with a 3.0 card and a Japanese Sega CD modded to play US and Japanese games. I sold them both for cheap.
2. I don't like the overwhelming majority of FPS, the exceptions being Portal and the classic Quake.
3. The only Mario platformer I have ever beaten, start to finish, was part 2.

Re: True Gaming Confessions
I have over 50 games that I have yet to play for a single minute; Majora's Mask is my shame in that pile. And I even got it brand new on launch day, collector's ed too. 10+ years... ;_:
I was grounded in JHS and my TV was taken from my room and put into storage. I ran an extension cord along with my SNES + Super Metroid and played while crammed under an old desk in a pitch black dusty room - and was busted for that too. But for Super Metroid, yeah it was worth it.
I killed 3 SNES pads during the SF2 days in the attempt to get Sheng Long to appear - I did manage to meet the requirements to get him but alas I was only met by the game over screen. Twas a huge waste of time but, I did manage to virtually never lose an SF tournament amongst my HS friends; training I suppose.
I spend more time collecting and reading about games than playing them these days. I bought an extra GC, Wii, Saturn, PS2, NES, and SNES here but my DSL gets most of my play time as I can put it in sleep mode and bring it anywhere (yes, even the can).

D.D.D: I feel the exact same way
Bought 8 GameCube systems over a few years, just to have all the bundle editions released here in europe. I've got tons of great games like TLOZ The Wind Waker, Ocarina Of Time and Majoras Mask, that I just need to plug in and play... Really don't know whats happening, yearlier I just bought games to play, but know I'd rather own them than playing them

Re: True Gaming Confessions
1. I don't like most RPGs, for some reason i just can't get into them without feeling like its an incredible waste of good FPS time.
Two exceptions. One is World of Warcraft, but i don't really consider it to be an RPG. Same with Fable.
2. There are days when i don't do anything but wake up, move from the bed to the gaming chair, and sit there and game on something for most of the day without caring about personal hygiene, or making contact of any kind to the outside world.
3. I my opinion, the worst day of gaming beats the best day at work, hands down.
4. I've gone through 2 playstation 3 controllers because sometimes when i get angry with a game, i throw them, not meaning to break them, but that usually being the end result.

Re: True Gaming Confessions
ha. I'm the same way. Lately I've been collecting a ton of gamecube, xbox and ps2 games because all the gamestops have been phasing them out. At the very least i would say about half i haven't played. Another 15% i would say i only played for a couple minutes. In this pile are greats like:D.D.D. wrote:I have over 50 games that I have yet to play for a single minute; Majora's Mask is my shame in that pile. beyond good and evil
devil may cry trilogy
Legacy of kain series (all but the original pc game and the ps1 soul reaver)
Disgaea series, Persona 3 plus a slew of other atlus games
Pikman
Oddworld games
knights of the old republic games
star fox adventures/assault
Wario World
Resident evil 1, 2, 3
Skys of Arcadia legends
Its not that i don't want to play them, i just don't have the time. And often when i do i'm too tired to really want to read a bunch of intro stuff so if a game doesn't immediately jump in (rpgs, i'm looking at you) I get tired and either just go to bed, or play something else. Also because i have so many games that i haven't played yet, if a game gets insanely difficult or doubles back through levels i've already been to in a boring way, or i just get stuck and don't know what to do next which results in me fireing up the game and doing nothing for a half hour... i tend to shelf it. Games that i would've liked to finish, but just didn't grab me enough or i felt like i got my play time out of them. Oh to be an adult.
As far as gamer shame aside from the above....
I haven't played any of the earthbound/mother games
I haven't played a dragon warrior/quest game
Other than 2, i've never beaten a mega man game
I have a hacked psp and a r4 for the ds, and i can count the games i've played through on one hand.
The FPS gamer 'accomplishments' bore me. Halo, gears, killzone, resistance, haze, crysis all for the most part don't even interest me and all blur together.
Never played through a survival horror game except re4:wii and deadspace. Both you could argue arn't really SH
All the saturn games I have haven't been played since the first time i got them (if even then)
Pokemon isn't fun. whats the big deal?
Holy shit- i'm chock full of shame!
Thing is, lately i'm trying to realize all of this and only buy games that i'm going to play. Like- when i get home. My crazy collector mentality makes me buy stuff i don't really even want to play. (persona 3 anyone?) But at the same time, i can't part with. At least i've stopped collecting hardware i can easily emulate. When i started looking at sega master systems and turbo graphic 16 systems i drew the line. There is no nostalgia there for me, i'm just collecting to collect.
know your limits folks.
Re: True Gaming Confessions
I almost never played street fighter growing up, I only just got really into it about a month ago playing sf2 on XBLA but it sucks cause I am so bad compared to everyone else.
