I got my own newspaper column!

Post by ThunderPrince »

Today I went to the newspaper staff meeting at my school today and I told them I was interested in writing for them along with the comics I submit. A buddy of mine who is on staff has a videogame column reviewing the newer stuff, DLC, etc. I thought it would be fun to talk about older stuff, (import) reviews, retrospectives, etc. Try and educate whoever reads it on some retro stuff, y'know?

I am not sure what to write about for my first article. Maybe a SF3 retrospective, since everyone knows about 2 and 4 just came out but how often do you hear people go "oh yeah! I used to play SF3 all the timeNOI'MJUSTJERKINGYOURCHAIN!"?

so yeah, ideas? what would you like to see if you were the reader?

None of my friends have played sf3 but a few have played MvsC2

Newspaper staff at your school? High school level I'm guessing?

Hmm...hit up some mid-90s goodness. Honestly, I'd say go for the Versus series, since it's more likely to get readers to pay attention. They've likely all heard of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, why not tell them about the joys of Children of the Atom? Do a few things that are a bit more popular first, then start getting into stuff you know they haven't played. They'll keep reading it then.

Ah, in that case feel free to play a little bit. You've got an older, more diverse crowd with varying levels of income but likely more pocket money than I previously thought. Sure, go for the SFIII article.

How about a column about genres that you don't see much of anymore. Hmm, SHMUPs (well, they're getting a bit more popular now),Flight Sims, Point and Click Adventures games, etc.

If he's going with 90s stuff and the Versus series, I think it would be a better idea to write about X-men vs. Street Fighter. I always thought it was the best Versus game, alongside the original Marvel vs. Capcom.

Yeah, I just figured he would run through bits on the entire series. Children of the Atom was me throwing out a name. You're right though, it would likely get more recognition from the crowd.

since you mentioned street fighter, I was thinking an article about how gaming since childhood has come full circle in some of the games we still play like street fighter. They are the same games but just revamped. This includes lots of games like mario, zelda, final fantasy and whatnot.

To me it seems like game developers are going back to their roots and exploring what made games so good back then and trying to recreate that magic.
