Youtube has a large number of video game reviewers, but as a whole it's pretty hit or miss. However there is one that is easily my favorite of the bunch, who oddly enough got his start as a slight parody/homage of the popular Angry Video Game Nerd.
The HVGN is a dude by the name of Derek Alexander who does a slight parody of the Angry Nerd motif, instead of reviewing crappy old games that you might have played as a kid, he mainly reviews old classics that you might have missed. He's a high quality reviewer who some people might avoid due to the name, but honestly the whole Angry Nerd parody is barely present anymore anyway, mainly boiling down to a few slight nods.
For anyone who hasn't checked his stuff out before, he are links to his reviews (mainly on Youtube. Earthbound is only available on his homesite, as it was too long for the Youtube timelimit). Seriously, if you haven't seen his stuff before, he's definitely worth a look.

I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

Can I just say I have always LOVED Metal Storm for NES and it is nice to see someone else showing appreciation for it. I still like the angry guy better though.
Re: Happy Video Game Nerd
Agreed, Metal Storm kicks ass. HVGN is pretty amusing too. I just finished watching all the AVGNs, so I might watch the rest of the HVGN pretty soon here.

Re: Happy Video Game Nerd
For anyone who decides to watch HVGN though, just one thing. While he is inspired by the AVGN, he doesn't really go for the comedy like the AVGN does. He's occasionally funny, but mostly he's just informative. But seeing how few good video game reviewers of good games there seems to be, I don't see that as a bad thing.

Ive seen a few of his videos, and while I don't approve of him aping the AVGN he is still fun to watch. it is nice to see someone who loves games gush about how good they are instead of ripping into it or going through the motions. nah mean?

I like the HVGN, he'e very entertaing. Nightshade is my favorite video by him so far. Retroware has a lot of his videos as well as another reviewer/game-video maker, The Gaming Historian. As the title implies, the guy researches and presents information on some gaming related subject. It's worth checking out along with the HVGN.

Re: Happy Video Game Nerd
i really enjoyed his thoroughness and up beat attitude. its a nice change from the usual zero punctuation attitude towards games.
