VS. Puzzle Games

Post by RemyC »

I was hoping that I would be able to get a list of VS. puzzle games such as, Columns 3, Twinkle star sprites, or Super Puzzle Fighter.

One game I love that comes to mind is the Bust a Move series. The games always have VS modes that are a ton of fun and antics...

Puyo Puyo Fever (Or Puyo Pop Fever in the West) is on every console from the Dreamcast onwards in some form or another. Any of the other Puyo Puyo games will do as well, I've got Puyo Puyo Sun on the Saturn. (FYI, Kirby's Avalanche and Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine are just reskinned Puyo Puyo games to make them "More Accessable" to the West). Most haven't been released in the US, of course; for example, Puyo Pop Fever for PS2 was only translated for Europe.

I also love Panel de Pon, which was reskinned in the West as Tetris Attack. It since then has gone under the moniker of "Puzzle League" in the west, and you can find a Puzzle League game on just about any Nintendo console from the SNES onwards. (I.e: Pokemon Puzzle League (N64), Dr. Mario / Puzzle League (GBA), Nintendo Puzzle Collection (GC), Planet Puzzle League (NDS) and Chotto Panel de Pon (Wiiware).

For the Neo Geo, I love Money Idol Exchanger and Magical Drop series. Magical Drop is pretty accessible, I've found while playing against friends.

Bust A Move (Puzzle Bobble) is another favorite of mine and many of my friends. Again, you can find an iteration on almost any console.
