art lovers guide to downloadable games

Post by nickfil »

don't know if you guys have seen this.
http://www.gamesradar.com/f/the-art-lov ... 4957761062

for those not willing to RTFA
the list goes:

PixelJunk Eden
Echochrome
Everyday shooter
flOw
Castle crashers
Braid
Rez HD

Linger in Shadows
PixelJunk Monsters
Flower

the ones i've played are in bold. Echochrome didn't really grab me at first, but it is something i want to force myself to get into because it is so pretty and unique. I was playing it psp, and on the go. I think i need to pay attention to that game more than i was.

PixelJunk games look great.

PixelJunk Eden and Monsters come highly recommended. Echochrome is also a great game, but it'll only appeal to puzzle fans who'd like more than falling blocks. Everyday Shooter is also great fun, but it does get pretty hard further into the game. (Of course, I'm sure there are some shmup experts who'd disagree.) Linger in Shadows is a fun ride while it lasts, but it doesn't last very long at all.

Unfortunately, I don't have a 360, so I don't know how those games play. Well, except Rez, which is obviously awesome.

PowerUp Forever, while not the most inspired game gameplay-wise, is really awesome to look at. The effects are spectacular and the various color palettes it transitions through are nifty.

Saw this article. I own most of these. Pixeljunk Eden is damn awesome. It's one of the few games that manages to combine stylish, artsy aesthetic with an actual game that is easy to jump into but difficult to master. Really sweet game, especially after the recent patch that softened up the difficultly just enough to get it over the fun v. aggravation hump.

Beat Flower last night and love that one. Not one you'll go back to over and over for months, but definitely worth having for the experience and for when the mood strikes you, very much like Rez.

Wow, looks like the PS3 is the console to have here. At least Everyday Shooter is on the PC, and works well under Wine. Very cool game, well worth the $10 download.

I have Echocrome and Linger in the Shadows.

I really wish there wasn't a timer in Echochrome. aside from that I dig it.

Linger is cool to watch. not alot of interactivity (were trophies really necessary ?) but you can get 85% of the thing if you catch a utube of it.
looks really cool though on your actual TV which utube can't show.
Ocelot, did it again...sorry Boss !
